A defense technology company in Reston will invest $7 million to expand its headquarters, potentially creating nearly 200 new jobs.

Blue Sky Innovators plans to build out a 20,000-square-foot laboratory called “SkyLab,” which will provide a secure workspace for government customers, atop its current headquarters at RTC West (12120 Sunset Hills Road, Suite 330), according to a press release.

Fairfax County officials finalized the purchase of a Chantilly property earlier this month to support an expansion of care for adults seeking mental health treatment.

The property, located at 14554 Lee Road, currently operates as Connections Chantilly, a 16-bed, short-term residential treatment center. It will soon be reclassified as a Crisis Receiving and Stabilization Center, meaning it will “provide an alternative to psychiatric hospitalization … and will offer treatment for those who also need safe withdrawal from substances.”

Trummer’s Coffee & Wine Bar, which is inspired by Austrian, Italian and other European-style coffeehouses, will open its doors in the shopping center this fall, a spokesperson for property owner Federal Realty announced last week.

Fairfax County Public Schools is planning its own investigation separate from the police into allegations that a Fairfax High School student groped multiple female students, Superintendent Michelle Reid announced.

In a letter sent on Monday (March 23) to families, Reid said that FCPS had retained the services of “an independent outside law firm to conduct a comprehensive review of this matter.”

A TikTok pastor who was arrested last month claimed that an “evil spirit” was inside a woman’s genitalia before he allegedly sexually assaulted her last November, police said.

Marco Antonio Ocampos Zamora, a 36-year-old Harrisonburg man, reportedly assaulted the woman in Merrifield after coming into contact with her online and offering to give her an in-person “counseling session.”

Four men — each younger than 25 years old — were taken into custody last week after a non-fatal shooting in Bailey’s Crossroads, police said.

Officers responded Thursday afternoon (March 19) to the 5500 block of Seminary Road after one man was reported to have been shot. Another man at the scene was reportedly assaulted, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.
