Both of the top federal prosecutors in Virginia resigning within a month of each other, reportedly after facing pressure from the Trump administration, is cause for alarm, Fairfax County’s Democratic supervisors say.
Board of Supervisors Chairman Jeff McKay and his Democratic colleagues urged Congress and judges in the Eastern District of Virginia to intervene after interim U.S. Attorney Erik Siebert resigned on Friday (Sept. 19) under circumstances they argued “appear politically motivated, and malicious.”

Drivers may notice an abundance of tree trimming along the George Washington Memorial Parkway over the next couple of months.
The National Park Service announced yesterday (Monday) that crews will spend the next eight weeks maintaining and evaluating trees along the southern section of the parkway between Mount Vernon and the Belle Haven area just south of Alexandria.

Kirby Club Successor Now Open — NAJA, the Lebanese restaurant taking over for Kirby Club, opened yesterday (Monday) at the Mosaic District in Merrifield. WTOP Reporter Dies From Cancer — “WTOP business reporter Jeff Clabaugh, whose steady-paced voice conversationally delivered money news to the D.C. region for three decades, has died at 63. Contractor Leases Reston Building — “CACI International Inc. has quietly leased a whole building in Reston just a stone’s throw from its headquarters near Reston Town Center, according to a real estate source and online Fairfax County information. A Lorton man has been convicted of murder after he shot his girlfriend last year, though he claimed to police that she had died by suicide.
Huy Tien Nguyen, 48, was convicted of second-degree murder by a Fairfax County Circuit Court jury today (Monday), a charge that could result in up to 40 years in prison, Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney Steve Descano announced.

Local law enforcement continues to investigate a Lorton murder that occurred five years ago this week.
It is still unknown who fired the gunshot that struck and killed 37-year-old Leonard Brown in a residential neighborhood off of Richmond Highway on Sept. 21, 2020.

Some existing mobile lounges at Dulles International Airport have been operating since John F. Kennedy was president in the mid-20th century, and with proper care, airport officials hope to keep them in service until almost the middle of the 21st century.
The iconic transportation equipment is a critical part of airport operations and “will remain essential for the next 15 to 20 years,” Thomas Beatty, chief operations officer for the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA), told the agency’s board of directors last Wednesday (Sept. 17).
