The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors honored three individuals on June 24 with the 2025 A. Heath Onthank Award, the highest honor for county government and Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) employees.

Blue Line riders be aware: there’s some rehabilitation work coming up this month that will close parts of the route in Fairfax, though replacement buses will be available.

My name is Drew, and I wanted to take a moment to tell you about what I’ve been working on as I try to make my way in the world.
This past year, I took a leap that honestly scared me. I challenged the comfortable path I’d been on and built something new with trusted partners and friends: a local roofing and home‑exterior company called All Team Exteriors. On paper, it’s a business. But in my heart, it’s something much more personal than that.

Why I started All Team Exteriors
I’ve worked in environments where professionalism, follow‑through, and integrity weren’t optional — they were the baseline. But when it came to home services, especially roofing, I saw how often homeowners were left frustrated, confused, or ignored. Slow responses. Vague communication. Contractors disappearing mid‑project.
And I thought:
Someone young, hungry, and honest should try to fix this.
So… I’m giving it everything I’ve got.
What I’m trying to build
All Team Exteriors isn’t a giant corporation. It’s not some out-of-state outfit with a call center. It’s me — and a small team of people committed to doing things the right way. We spent an extensive amount of time training under a perennial award-winning roofing company in Arizona this winter and learned what great looks like.
We’re bringing modern tools, photo-documented inspections, real-time updates, fast communication, and a “do what we say we’ll do” mentality. Not because it looks good in a brochure, but because that’s how I’d want someone to treat my own family.

Due to budget cuts, the Fairfax County Police Department is no longer offering free child car seat installations and inspections.
The department officially terminated its child safety seat program this past Tuesday (July 1), which marked the first day of fiscal year 2026.
Vienna residents will have to wait a little longer than expected to check out library books without leaving town.

Man Released From ICE Detention — “A Salvadoran father who was arrested by Alexandria police and handed over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) spoke out after spending nearly two months in a detention center.” The man’s lawyer says a judge issued an arrest warrant for the man after he failed to appear for a Fairfax County court hearing for a domestic case that has since closed. Family Claims Antisemitism at Herndon School — “A new complaint filed with the Virginia Attorney General’s office alleges three students were kicked out of [Nysmith School for the Gifted] in Herndon. Their parents allege it happened after their children–all under the age of 11– were subjected to antisemitic bullying.” [WJLA]
Reality TV Star Realtor Makes Move on McLean — “Luxury residential real estate brokerage Serhant, whose listings from New York to Florida top out as high as $80 million, has entered the D.C. market, snagging a team of top McLean agents.” The New York-based firm comes from Ryan Serhant, who is starring in “Owning Manhattan” on Netflix and previously led Bravo’s “Million Dollar Listing New York” for nine seasons. Loudoun Considers ‘Tiny’ Housing — “Loudoun County — perpetually dubbed the wealthiest county in the U.S. based on median household income — is exploring how a tiny home community might provide affordable housing.
