Churchwick Partners submitted a rezoning application to Fairfax County on Dec. 21 for the existing Sonesta Extended Stay Suites at 12811 Fair Lakes Parkway.

A local homebuilder has answered the call to redevelop T-Mobile’s now-vacant campus in Reston.

Stanley Martin Homes, which is headquartered in Reston, is proposing to build more than 1,000 residences, including 174 income-restricted units, in place of the 36-acre office park adjacent to the Herndon Metro station.

More commercial development in Fairfax County could soon give way to housing after the Board of Supervisors approved that option for a pair of office properties in the Fair Oaks area.

A gas station that has been serving Franconia for more than 50 years is due for an update, its owner says.

According to an application recently submitted to the Fairfax County Department of Planning and Zoning, the Merrifield-based Petroleum Marketing Group (PMG) is looking to replace the existing BP Service Station at 6201 Franconia Road with a 4,650-square-foot convenience store and five fuel pumps (10 fueling positions) under a canopy.

Plans are solidifying for another data center facility in the Route 28 corridor just east of Dulles International Airport.

A Fairfax County planner affirmed this month that a proposed data center would be “suitable” for the former Word of Grace Christian Church property at 13832 Redskin Drive in Herndon, and that the facility would be “fully consistent” with local ordinances, according to a letter uploaded to the county’s land use database yesterday (Monday).

The Fairfax County Redevelopment and Housing Authority (FCRHA) is starting to test the waters on an initial concept for its plan to replace and expand on Reston’s Crescent Apartments.

Now more than a decade in the making after a previous push to revitalize the Lake Anne area stalled, the redevelopment will prioritize preserving the property’s status as a valuable affordable housing site, while also better integrating it with the surrounding community, according to FCRHA Associate Development Director Thor Nelson.
