Fairfax County police believe speeding and alcohol both contributed to a crash on Fairfax County Parkway in Reston that killed a woman over the weekend.

Officers and medical personnel were dispatched to northbound Fairfax County Parkway over Elden Street around 2:40 a.m. on Saturday (Nov. 23) for the single-vehicle crash.

Fairfax County police are continuing to investigate a crash that killed a 3-year-old boy in a Chantilly mobile home community this weekend.

Based on a preliminary review, however, Crash Reconstruction Unit detectives don’t believe speed or alcohol were factors in the Saturday (Nov. 16) incident, the Fairfax County Police Department said in a news release published today (Monday).

The man convicted of involuntary manslaughter following a crash in Bailey’s Crossroads that claimed the life of a 93-year-old woman will spend the next 18 months behind bars.

Isai Jimenez Paz, 24, of Arlington, received a 10-year sentence in Fairfax County Circuit Court on Friday (Nov. 15), though eight years and six months of that sentence are suspended, according to court records.

Three more people died in vehicle crashes on Fairfax County roads over Veterans Day weekend.

A single-vehicle crash in Reston early Sunday (Nov. 10) morning resulted in the deaths of the driver and a passenger, and later that day, the Fairfax County Police Department announced that a woman injured in a separate crash in Oakton on Saturday (Nov. 9) had died.

Metro Bus Redesign Set for Vote — Metro’s board is scheduled to vote today (Thursday) on “an overhaul of the bus network in and around D.C. — the first major redesign of the system in half a century.” Expected to take effect next summer, the proposed routes were revised from a plan unveiled in July based on public feedback. Woman Killed in I-495 Crash — “A Massachusetts woman died and three others were injured in a five-vehicle, chain-reaction crash Tuesday on Interstate 495 near Alexandria. Fairfax Resident Sentenced for Jan. 6 Role — “A U.S. Marine Corps veteran and former member of an alleged Alexandria-area militia was sentenced Tuesday to three years of probation for his role in the Capitol riot. A motorcyclist died last week following a crash on Old Keene Mill Road in Burke.

Officers responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash at the Field Master Drive intersection around 3:53 p.m. on Oct. 30, the Fairfax County Police Department reported today (Monday) in a press release.

A Springfield man was arrested yesterday (Wednesday) in connection with a hit-and-run crash that killed a motorcyclist in May.

According to the Fairfax County Police Department, detectives determined that Michael Burghardt, 46, was driving a 2022 BMW M440i north in the southbound lanes of Rolling Road when he hit a southbound motorcyclist near Delong Drive in Newington on May 12.

Glen Simmons, 57, died on Sunday (Oct. 13) — almost three weeks after he was struck by a driver while walking on Patrick Henry Drive shortly before 8 p.m. on Sept. 25, the Fairfax County Police Department announced yesterday (Monday).

An Oakton man has died after he was hit by a driver while riding an electric bicycle in the Fair Oaks area yesterday (Wednesday), the Fairfax County Police Department said in a news release today.

Officers responded to the intersection of West Ox Road and Tilton Valley Drive at 12:14 p.m. for a crash involving a bicyclist who was struck by a gray Kia sedan, according to police scanner traffic.

Fairfax Motorcyclist Dies After Crash — Joshua Doan-Ha, 20, died Sunday (Oct. 6) from injuries he sustained in a two-vehicle crash on Braddock Road near Kings Park West. Police say Doan-Ha crashed into the driver of a 2016 Toyota Corolla on Oct. 3 while traveling east on a 2023 Kawasaki Ninja. “Detectives continue to investigate whether speed or alcohol were a factor in the crash.” [FCPD]
