The White House said it fired a National Transportation Safety Board member after reports of drinking on the job and harassing staff, but Todd Inman flatly denied the allegations Monday and said he plans to fight back.
The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors went on record yesterday (Tuesday) supporting state officials’ efforts to cure a major rail-traffic bottleneck.
In a letter to U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, the board asked the federal government to award the Virginia Passenger Rail Authority’s request for funding to design 4.6 miles of a third mainline track on CSX’s rail corridor in Fairfax and Prince William counties.
An additional $9.2 million in federal funds is coming to Fairfax County, raising the county’s total earmarks to nearly $17 million for this fiscal year.
Rep. James Walkinshaw announced today (Tuesday) that he had helped procure approximately $13.4 million for the county in the minibus appropriations package that passed last month.

WASHINGTON (AP) — As a partial government shutdown looms at week’s end, Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer has laid out a list of demands for the Department of Homeland Security, including an enforceable code of conduct for federal agents conducting immigration arrests and a requirement that they identify themselves to the public.
The U.S. Treasury Department has canceled $21 million in contracts with Tysons-based consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton, claiming that the firm failed to protect sensitive taxpayer data.
All of the firm’s 31 contracts with the Treasury were cut in an attempt to increase “Americans’ trust in government,” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said today (Monday) in a press release.
