A Fredericksburg man was arrested and charged last week in connection with sexual assaults that allegedly occurred over 40 years ago at a horse farm in Great Falls.

Edward Shelton, 81, turned himself in to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office last Thursday, Sept. 19, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

The Virginia Native American Festival is set to return to Riverbend Park (8700 Potomac Hills Street) in Great Falls for its 24th year.

Scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the annual celebration of Native American cultures and traditions has been a staple in the county since 1997. However, it was put on hold for a couple of years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A Sterling man is facing a criminal charge in connection to a recent fatal pedestrian crash in Great Falls.

Guanglu Xia, 63, has been charged with a felony hit-and-run after he allegedly struck Giomarie Davila-Ocasio, a 26-year-old woman from Reston, and initially left the scene, the Fairfax County Police Department announced today (Friday).

The Georgetown Pike bridge over I-495 in McLean will partially close for a full weekend later this month so traffic can be shifted to new lanes.

The Virginia Department of Transportation is advising drivers to avoid the interchange during what it’s calling “Stay-Away Weekend” if they don’t want to get caught up in the congestion that’ll likely be created by the lane reductions and ramp closures.
