Preschool students and staff gathered last week at The Gardner School of Herndon to celebrate the school’s 10th anniversary with a snapshot in time.

At the Oct. 16 celebration, students created a time capsule with objects memorializing their time at the school with friends and teachers. The capsule contains gold coins symbolizing a memory or milestone each student gained during the school year so far.

Herndon Town Councilmember Naila Alam’s attendance record is under fire from one of Fairfax County’s Congressional representatives.

Pulte Home Company is planning to build two apartment buildings in the existing Caywood at Woodland Park office complex near the Herndon Metro Station.

The proposed development is set to go before the Fairfax County Planning Commission tonight (Wednesday). If approved, the county would rezone the 12-acre site from planned development commercial to residential in order to allow 72 multi-family residential units across two five-story buildings.

In anticipation of finalizing an agreement for the long-awaited downtown redevelopment, Town of Herndon officials are turning their attention to the arts organizations that will be at least temporarily displaced by the project.

Interim town manager Christopher Martino told the Herndon Town Council at a work session yesterday (Oct. 15) the town is on track to complete a final comprehensive agreement with developer Comstock by an imposed Dec. 10 deadline after years of delay.

Police have arrested a 25-year-old man in connection with Sunday night’s shooting at Worldgate Centre in Herndon.

Mohamed Abdalla was arrested and charged last night (Monday) with four felony charges of malicious wounding, two counts of abduction and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, the Town of Herndon Police Department announced.

Herndon police are searching for a man who’s believed to be armed and dangerous after allegedly shooting another man at the Worldgate Shopping Center in Herndon.

Herndon Police responded to the shopping center’s parking lot around 7:40 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 6) after an officer heard what he thought was gunshots while on patrol, a spokesperson says.
