A “membership-first” veterinary practice opened its doors in McLean for the first time today (Monday).

Transparency and convenience are the ideas behind Small Door Veterinary, which settled on Chesterbrook Shopping Center for its first Virginia location.

Members of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors reacted favorably Tuesday (Feb. 18) to a request that pets be allowed in more Fairfax County Redevelopment and Housing Authority apartment properties.

“That review is underway,” Board Chair Jeff McKay said in response to comments by Gina Marie Lynch, the Mount Vernon representative to the Animal Services Advisory Commission.

Two men walked into a pet store in Chantilly last month and left with a puppy they didn’t pay for, police say.

The Fairfax County Police Department released photos pulled from security camera footage today (Friday) that show the reported larceny, which occurred on Oct. 16.

A new dog care business from a local couple has staked out territory in the developing expansion of Reston Town Center.

With construction expected to finish later this month, Molly’s Dog Care will officially open its doors at 11992 Inspiration Street on Dec. 8. The nearly 4,000-square-foot center will offer day care, boarding and grooming services to pups of all sizes and personalities, according to its website.

A festive showcase for local food trucks, wineries and artists is coming to Halstead Square this weekend.

The residential development south of the Dunn Loring Metro station will host its sixth annual Food, Wine and Art Festival at the Lotus and Lofts apartments (2729 Merrilee Drive) from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26.

The annual Taste of Annandale street festival is set for this weekend, bringing food, entertainment and community fun to the area.

The festival kicks off Saturday, Sept. 21, from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Eileen Garnett Civic Space (7200 Columbia Pike).

The Fairfax County Animal Shelter (FCAS) will waive adoption fees this Friday through Sunday (Aug. 23-25).

The shelter has more than 160 animals waiting for adoption, it said in a press release. That includes cats, dogs, guinea pigs, mice and rabbits.

Fairfax County Animal Shelter is trying to drum up some attention for its older furry occupants.

Starting today (Friday), the shelter has waived adoption fees for all dogs and cats 6 years and older as part of a “Vintage Tails” event that will continue through Sunday, July 28.

A new pet hospital is opening up in Fairfax City.

Bond Vet, a full-service veterinary clinic for dogs and cats, is opening later this month at 9428 Fairfax Blvd, across from the Giant supermarket under the Scout on the Circle apartments. There is no definitive opening date yet, but a spokesperson told FFXnow it plans to open “within the month.”

Owners of six Woofie’s franchises in Northern Virginia are hosting a “Paws in the Park” pet adoption event tomorrow (Saturday) at Wolf Trap National Park.

Participating Woofie’s include Reston/Herndon, Ashburn-Leesburg, McLean, Western Loudoun, South Riding-Aldie and Fairfax. Woofie’s mobile pet services include dog walking, grooming, nail trimming, Bed ‘n Biscuit pet stays, overnight and daytime pet sitting, and other personalized services for area pet owners.
