The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for Northern Virginia, including Fairfax County, effective Monday morning through Monday evening.
Dangerously hot conditions are expected with heat index values potentially reaching 110 degrees. The combination of high temperatures and humidity will create hazardous conditions — including the potential for heat-related illnesses — for residents across the D.C. area.
Fairfax County is under several Severe Thunderstorm Warnings this afternoon.
Strong, slow-moving storms popped up over the county shortly before 4 p.m. and have continued to overspread the area. The warnings cover Tysons, Centreville, Vienna, Oakton and other areas.

Fairfax County is under a Flood Watch until midnight.

Updated at 6:50 p.m. — The Severe Thunderstorm Watch was canceled at 6:41 p.m., according to a National Weather Service alert.
