Call Your Mother’s McLean location will morph from a food truck into a physical storefront this weekend.

The popular bagel shop will hold a grand opening for its newest deli at 6232 Old Dominion Drive in the Chesterbrook Shopping Center this Sunday (July 7), according to a notice posted to its website.

“Meet the team, check out the new digs, indulge in all the carbs and caffeine your little heart desires and soak up the vibes,” Call Your Mother said in an email to followers.

Adjacent to the recently opened beauty shop bluemercury, the store will open near where the Lil’ Deli has been operating since May 2023. The mobile food truck, which stood in the shopping center’s parking lot, will close starting tomorrow (Saturday).

“The first year of having the Lil Deli in McLean was awesome, and we’re stoked for the next step in this journey and excited to see all the smiling faces in McLean soon,” Call Your Mother owner Andrew Dana told FFXnow.

Started as a food market vendor, Call Your Mother opened its first permanent location in D.C.’s Petsworth neighborhood in 2018. It now has 12 brick-and-mortar locations in D.C., Maryland, Virginia and Colorado, including one in Old Town Alexandria.

Best known for its bagels, the deli also serves sandwiches, coffee and pastries, such as black-and-white cookies and babka muffins.

The espresso options will now offered in McLean with the brick-and-mortar store’s arrival. The store will also have more capacity than the Lil Deli, which sometimes ran out of items and wasn’t able to serve everyone who stopped by, especially on weekends, according to Dana.

“Now that we’re in the brick-and-mortar, we have capacity to serve everybody,” he said. “Hopefully, there won’t be long waits, we’ll never be selling out of anything, and then we’ll add the espresso program, so you can get your cappuccinos and your lattes and all that good stuff.”

Call Your Mother will be open in McLean daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. A few outdoor tables will still be available.

Dana confirmed that the business is still working on a Vienna restaurant that will replace Cold Stone Creamery in Vienna Marketplace (205 Maple Avenue).

“We’re working through permitting, so that is still the plan,” Dana said. “We hope to open that this year, but a lot of stuff with [Fairfax County] is out of our hands.”

Still to come this year at Chesterbrook will be Sorn Thai, a southern Thai restaurant from the team behind Donsak in D.C. The shopping center is also expected to add the pet primary and urgent care clinic Small Door Veterinary in spring 2025.
