A familiar face at farmers’ markets across Fairfax County has now set up a permanent shop in Reston.
Empanadas de Mendoza is currently in soft opening mode at North Point Village Center, but the doors of its second storefront will officially open on Dec. 6, co-owner Gabi Steelman told FFXnow.
To commemorate the grand opening, the first 100 customers will receive free empanadas and churros. Free cookies featuring the eatery’s logo will also be offered to all customers while supplies last.
The restaurant will also have music and balloons as part of the celebration, Steelman said.
A full slate of menu items will be available, including the empanada recipes that have made the brand a household name across Northern Virginia.
Empanadas de Mendoza offers 12 empanada flavors in all, including pineapple chicken, Argentinian spicy chorizo and roasted chicken and potatoes. A small selection of pizzas and eight different sandwiches is also on the menu.
Founded in 2015 as a food truck, the brand still relies on a mobile presence. In addition to a Lorton location, Empanadas de Mendoza continues to regularly appear at the Fairfax and Arlington farmers markets.
The business also ran a food hall stall at Tysons Galleria for a few years that closed earlier in 2025.
The Reston restaurant, located at 1478 North Point Village Center, will be open daily. It will be open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., with more limited hours of 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
