Award-winning restaurant Clarity aims for May opening in Reston

An award-winning restaurant from Vienna is getting closer to opening its second location in Reston.

Clarity aims to open next month at the Reston Town Center. The RAMMY-studded, upscale American restaurant is “progressing rapidly and [is] looking to tentatively open on May 1,” joining its initial location that opened in 2015 at 442 Maple Avenue, a spokesperson told FFXnow.

“This will, of course, be contingent on a lot of factors but that is our ambitious projection,” he said.

The menu will bear similarities to Clarity’s Vienna location, with “fan favorites” like halibut, foie gras, steaks and chops and French onion soup. Guests can also expect a new to-go menu and a few Reston-specific “surprises” that have yet to be revealed.

“We will also feature a 6-course tasting menu as well as specialty menus for large parties including 3-course, buffet style and even hors d’oeuvres menus,” the spokesperson said. “We would certainly like to highlight our new Smoked Wagyu Cheeseburger with an American wagyu beef blend, smoked chili cheddar cheese and burger sauce, all served on our house-made brioche bun with fries or a side-salad if you prefer.”

Led by Executive Chef Danny Ahn, the new restaurant will be able to seat about 175 guests indoors and another 40 on a patio, across a total of 4,500 square feet.

The Clarity team said it was drawn to Reston for its second location “mainly because of the massive growth potential we see in RTC Next in particular and in Reston as a whole,” the spokesperson said, referring to the development’s nearly completed expansion towards Sunset Hills Road.

“Despite all of this rapid growth, it still feels like a small town,” he said. “We’ve been greeted warmly and embraced by the surrounding community and we couldn’t be happier with the welcome we’ve received.”

Some grand opening festivities are in the works. The restaurant plans to host a couple dinners for local dignitaries, social groups and civic organizations, as well as some of its long-time customers in Vienna.

While Clarity prepares to open at the Reston Town Center, its management is working on an additional restaurant there. Plans are underway to open a second location of Dogfish Head Alehouse this fall, after the management group acquired the restaurant’s only location in Gaithersburg, Maryland, earlier this year.

Over the next year, Clarity, Dogfish Head and the recently opened Toastique will also be joined in the expansion of Reston Town Center by Paris Baguette, the Italian restaurant and deli Grazie Nonna and Grazie Grazie, Livewell Animal Hospitals and Yunnan by Potomac Noodle House.
