An existing restaurant at Reston Station will soon bring new life to the outdoor patio vacated at the end of 2025 by Matchbox.

Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse is expanding to the patio, where it will open a “Plaza Bar” with seasonal menu offerings, cocktails and more this Friday (May 7).

“We’re excited to introduce Davio’s Plaza Bar as an extension of our restaurant and as a destination in its own right,” Davio’s chef and owner Steve DiFillippo said in an announcement. “With the volume of activity at Reston Station, this concept allows us to meet guests where they are — outside, social and looking for a great experience.”

Located between Davio’s indoor dining room at 1902 Reston Metro Plaza and the office building at 1900 Reston Metro Plaza Drive, the space will accommodate 76 guests with 16 seats at the bar. It will be outfitted with six TV screens, allowing patrons to enjoy sports and other entertainment as they dine.

The Plaza Bar menu will feature “a selection” of signature dishes similar to the restaurant’s happy hour offerings, including chilled oysters, spring roles, pizza, sliders and a steakhouse burger with Vermont cheddar, bacon and herb aioli on a potato roll. Drinks include curated cocktails and wines.

Davio’s Plaza Bar will be available every day of the week once it opens, starting at 11:30 a.m. on Monday through Saturday and at 11 a.m. on Sundays.

Davio’s originally opened its 13,000-square-foot restaurant on the ground floor of ICF’s headquarters building at Reston Station in November 2022. It is one of eight locations currently operated by the chain that DiFillippo started in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1985.

Though Matchbox closed last year without explanation, Reston Station welcomed Noku Sushi in February, and Ebbitt House, a new concept from the team behind Clyde’s, is on track to open in the expanding Reston Row neighborhood this August, WTOP recently reported.
