The family of a woman killed last Thursday (July 23) in a motorcycle crash on Route 123 (Ox Road) are seeking financial assistance, as a police investigation into the incident continues.
Jennifer Hollingsworth, a 39-year-old resident of Fredericksburg, was heading north on a 2025 Suzuki GSXR 750 motorcycle on Ox Road when she crashed into a 2021 Buick Enclave SUV that was turning left from southbound Ox Road onto eastbound Chapel Road in Fairfax Station, the Fairfax County Police Department said in an update on Friday (July 24).
Hollingsworth was declared dead at the scene of the crash, while the SUV driver survived without any injuries.
“Preliminary, alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash for the driver of the Buick. Speed and alcohol for the rider of the motorcycle remain under investigation,” the FCPD said, adding that its Crash Reconstruction Unit detectives are still investigating the circumstances of the crash.
In the meantime, a friend of Hollingsworth has set up a GoFundMe page to help her family with funeral and memorial expenses.
“Jennifer was a loving mother to three beautiful children who were the center of her world,” the fundraiser page says. “She dedicated her life to caring for them, and her sudden loss has left an unimaginable void in the lives of her family and everyone who knew and loved her.”
The page’s authenticity was confirmed to FFXnow by Hollingsworth’s mother, the fundraiser’s designated recipient.
It was shared on Facebook by Connecticut-based author Kate Johnston, who identified Hollingsworth as her cousin and described her as someone who was “full of life.”
“Please consider donating toward lending some financial stability to my little cousins as they learn to navigate life without their mom,” Johnston wrote. “It is going to be a hard road trying to find a new normal, and every little bit helps.”
As of press time, the online fundraiser was starting to close on half of its $30,000 goal with over $12,000 in donations.
According to preliminary state data, there have been at least 24 fatalities on Fairfax County roads so far this year. Hollingsworth appears to be the fifth motorcyclist to be killed in a crash, following crashes on the Capital Beltway (I-495) on April 15, on Route 29 in Fair Lakes on May 19, on Richmond Highway in Lorton on June 17, and on Braddock Road on June 29.
A surge in pedestrian fatalities and crashes involving motorcyclists have led Fairfax County police to stress the importance of following road safety rules, both for drivers and other travelers. The FCPD’s annual “Road Shark” campaign aimed at curbing reckless driving behaviors is slated to resume for a third wave of increased enforcement on Aug. 10.
