Lorton tennis coach pleads guilty to inappropriate conduct with minors

A private tennis coach could face up to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty last Thursday (Aug. 13) to three counts of indecent liberties and two counts of solicitation of a minor.

Tony Dale Adams of Lorton was arrested last November after the Fairfax County Police Department alleged that he “engaged in unlawful and inappropriate contact as a private tennis coach with the victim while she was underage.”

The charges in Fairfax County Circuit Court account for incidents involving two victims, who now have a lifetime protective order in place.

The plea agreement for up to 10 years incarceration is above the high end of the Virginia Sentencing Guidelines for this offense, according to the Fairfax County Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney. Adams must also register as a sex offender.

Sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 18.

The coach had previously worked as an assistant tennis coach at West Springfield High School from 2015 to 2016 and as a tennis coach at Lake Braddock Secondary School in 2018. He also supported West Springfield’s tennis program in 2022, but not as a coach, according to the FCPD.
