First new Vantage Hill townhomes on track to finish this summer

Construction is progressing on a new townhome neighborhood near the Vantage Hill Condominiums in Reston.

Two buildings containing the first seven of 28 houses planned in The Fairland at Vantage Hill are on track to be completed this summer, likely in July or August, according to Craftmark Homes sales manager Lori Windsor.

A man has been taken to the hospital with serious injuries following a crash on Ox Road (Route 123) near the Crosspointe Fire Station in Lorton.

Police officers and units with the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department were dispatched to Ox Road at Hampton Station Court just after 4 p.m. today (Wednesday) for a single-vehicle crash.

The McLean Project for the Arts will celebrate the realization of its anticipated downtown expansion with a tribute to the power of the abstract.

The late abstract painter Yasmine C. Iskander will headline the inaugural exhibition at the MPA Berlage Arts and Education Center, which is set to open at 6910 Fleetwood Road with an 11 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony tomorrow (Thursday).

Fairfax County reports reduced energy use with switch to LED streetlights

The end is within sight for Fairfax County’s nearly decade-long push to convert all streetlights to more energy efficient LED fixtures.

Dominion Energy, which owns, operates and maintains about 96% of the county’s 60,000 streetlights, has upgraded approximately 93% or 52,100 of them to LED, as of March, the county announced earlier this week.

Bed Bath and Beyond coming to Fairfax County’s Container Stores

Bed Bath and Beyond is returning to Fairfax County, but not as a standalone retailer.

Instead, the home decor chain’s products will become available through local Container Stores as part of a nationwide “mashup” following a merger between the two companies.

For one Lorton homeowner, this week’s trash pickup might’ve left more garbage than it took away.

A garbage truck crashed into a single-family house in the 7600 block of Henry Knox Drive this morning (Tuesday), drawing a response from the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department around 11:18 a.m.

A former Lake Braddock Bruin could soon don purple and gold on an NFL gridiron.

Burke native Matthew Hibner was drafted on Saturday (April 25) by the Baltimore Ravens, which selected him in the fourth round with the 133rd overall pick after trading a fifth-round slot and 2027 sixth-round pick to the San Francisco 49ers.

Free outdoor concerts return to Reston Town Center, starting in May

The pavilion at Reston Town Center will once again host more than a dozen free concerts throughout the summer, starting next month.

The 33rd annual Reston Concerts on the Town series is set to return on May 16, coinciding, like in past years, with the Tephra ICA Arts Festival.

VDOT to present plan tomorrow for widening Route 7 in Tysons

Design work has been underway for about a year now on plans to widen the portion of Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) that runs through central Tysons.

The Virginia Department of Transportation will present its initial concept for widening the road between Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) and the Capital Beltway (I-495) to the community for the first time at a virtual public information meeting at 7 p.m. tomorrow (Wednesday).

FCPD: Four arrested for distributing drugs out of Mount Vernon motel

A motel along Richmond Highway in Mount Vernon has been playing host to a drug distribution ring, Fairfax County police say.

Officers arrested four people at the Red Carpet Inn (8257 Richmond Highway) on April 17 after a three-month investigation found that they were distributing narcotics out of multiple hotel rooms, the Fairfax County Police Department announced today (Monday).
