FCPS Pride is urging Northern Virginia school districts to hold their ground after the Department of Education accused the schools’ trans-inclusive policies of violating Title IX.

Last week, the Education Department’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) found Fairfax County Public Schools and nearby Arlington, Alexandria, Prince William and Loudoun school divisions in violation of Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. The findings argue that letting students use bathrooms and other facilities consistent with their gender identity constitutes discrimination on the basis of sex.

Fairfax County is getting ready to make significant and much needed repairs to George Mason Regional Library in Annandale.

Like the Crossroads rehab facility similarly receiving an upgrade, the library at 7001 Little River Turnpike hasn’t received a renovation since the 1990s. Built in 1960, the facility received an addition in 1998.

As federal worker layoffs drive up unemployment, a new roadmap to reshaping the regional economy, proposed by local business leaders, says Northern Virginia will have to reinvent its economy if it hopes to succeed.

The Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce (NVC) and consulting firm Accenture released the NOVA Roadmap yesterday (Monday) at a press conference, calling it a “bold, actionable vision to reimagine the region’s economy.”

The City of Fairfax could tighten its restrictions on noise but is likely holding off on regulating gas-powered leaf blowers.

Currently in Fairfax City, amplified sounds like music and other noise through speakers are prohibited form being plainly audible inside another person’s dwelling unit between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. Street noises, like yelling, shouting, and hooting are likewise prohibited on public streets during the same hours.
