For Vienna deer: be warned, if you see a pile of corn on the ground in a Vienna park later this year, keep an eye out for marksmen in the trees above you.

At a work session with the Vienna Town Council on Monday (July 14), Fairfax County police explained a memorandum of understanding agreed to in April that will allow the county’s deer management program to “conduct operations” in Vienna.

Food distributors operating in Fairfax County say newly approved cuts to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits could have a devastating impact on a region already struggling with food insecurity.

President Donald Trump’s recent federal tax bill includes historic cuts to safety net programs like SNAP, the Washington Post reported.

As Northern Virginia continues to grapple with the limited supply and high cost of housing, a pair of 18th and 19th-century taverns that were later converted into homes could present an unique opportunity for some preservation-minded residents.

The Fairfax County Park Authority is currently looking for resident curators for the rehabilitation and long-term maintenance of the Dranesville Tavern and Fairfax Arms.

A ranking of localities by their bicycle-friendliness has Fairfax City near the top in Virginia.

The City of Fairfax came in seventh place in Virginia in PeopleForBikes’ 2025 ranking of cities, which were released in mid-June. Fairfax came in 22nd across the south as a whole, and 286th in the U.S.

How do you like walking around Fairfax City? A new study could redesign the city’s streets to improve the pedestrian experience with a particular emphasis on safety.

The City of Fairfax was awarded a federal grant to develop a citywide safety action plan, a circulation study for Old Town Fairfax, and a citywide pedestrian master plan — all under the umbrella of an initiative called Move Fairfax City.

RTC West welcomes burger chain, with bakery aiming to open soon

Burger chain Z-Burger has opened a new location near Reston Town Center.

While the location isn’t officially listed on the Z-Burger website at the time of writing, staff said the restaurant actually opened “around two months ago.”

Metro to close Blue Line train stations in Fairfax for construction work

Blue Line riders be aware: there’s some rehabilitation work coming up this month that will close parts of the route in Fairfax, though replacement buses will be available.

Metro reminded riders in a release that the upcoming track work is scheduled to run from Saturday, July 5, through Saturday, July 26.

A new set of signs will celebrate famed local land surveyor George Washington and one of his most notable accomplishments: the creation of the Patowmack Canal.

The new signs will be unveiled at a ceremony on Saturday, July 5 at Seneca Regional Park (201 Seneca Road) in Great Falls.

After a contentious primary, Republican nominees for Virginia’s next governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general took the stage last night (Tuesday) in Vienna to try and present a unified image.

Incumbent Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears, the party’s gubernatorial nominee, and others criticized the Democratic slate of candidates but also repeatedly took aim at Zohran Mamdani, attempting to associate Democratic nominee Abigail Spanberger with the mayoral candidate in New York City.
