The driver believed to be involved in a crash that killed a pedestrian on Fairfax County Parkway last December has turned herself in and been charged in the pedestrian’s death.

Shaza Edris, 20, of Fairfax, was charged with felony hit and run involving in death, and using a handheld personal communications device while driving, the Fairfax County Police Department announced on Friday (June 26).

A woman and her 8-year-old child were in their car when a man reportedly climbed on the hood and robbed them earlier this month, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

The department is asking for the public’s help identifying the suspect in the incident, which occurred in the 5200 block of Montgomery Street in Springfield on June 14 around 9:10 p.m.

Moises Rico Rosales, 35, was taken into custody yesterday (Tuesday) around 1:08 p.m. in the 4700 block of Americana Drive. He is charged with abduction with intent to defile as well as indecent exposure.

Fairfax County police are searching for a man who allegedly robbed and threatened a driver in the Herndon area over the weekend.

Officers responded to the reported robbery at the Parcher Avenue and Springer Drive intersection in Hutchison, just west of the Town of Herndon, at 2:44 p.m. on Saturday (June 20), according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

Springfield Town Center has been deemed safe after shoppers and workers were evacuated due to a bomb threat.

Officers were dispatched to the mall (6500 Springfield Mall) at around 4:28 p.m. today (Tuesday) after an unknown person called in a threat, the Fairfax County Police Department said.

After issuing more than 10,000 traffic citations in early June, police are preparing to resume a traffic safety campaign targeting reckless drivers, speeding, and distracted driving later this summer.

The third phase of the “Road Shark” initiative, led by the Fairfax County Police Department in partnership with Virginia State Police, will begin Aug. 10.

Local police and parks officials across Northern Virginia are working to raise awareness of how to safely ride and share paths with electric bicycles in response to reported upticks in complaints about reckless behavior.

Over the past month, the Vienna Police Department has been sharing information about safe and legal riding practices, while also stepping up patrols in areas where concerns have cropped up as part of an E-Bike Safety Awareness Campaign launched on May 29.

The Fairfax County Police Department is looking for a suspect involved in an alleged indecent exposure, followed by an attempted abduction of a woman in Wakefield Park in Annandale over the weekend.

A woman reported that as she was walking on a trail in the park around 1:40 p.m. Sunday (June 21), a man exposed his genitals. While officers were responding to the call about the indecent exposure, another call came in, this time regarding an attempted abduction in the park.
