Zoom Room, located at 6812 Bland Street, held its grand opening last Saturday (Sept. 21). It’s the first location in the D.C. area for the national chain, which currently has more than 100 centers nationwide.

Fairfax County police are investigating three different fatal pedestrian crashes that occurred over the past week.

Last Thursday (Sept. 19) around 9:38 p.m., Oscar Daniel Martinez Granados, 24, of Woodbridge was hit by a driver in the 8100 block of Old Keene Mill Road near Irving Middle School in Springfield, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

Fairfax County police are investigating a hit-and-run crash on Franconia Road in Springfield that resulted in a pedestrian’s death.

Officers were dispatched to Franconia Road at Elder Avenue near Frontier Plaza around 6:10 a.m. after passersby reported seeing a vehicle that drove off the road, hitting a pole, according to scanner traffic on Open MHz.

Fairfax Connector will roll out some notable service changes later this month, including the launch of its first-ever direct connection to Montgomery County in Maryland.

Fairfax County’s new $58.38 million commuter parking garage in Springfield is now complete and will open to commuters starting next week.

A ribbon-cutting for the six-level facility at 7039 Old Keene Mill Road is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 5, at 11 a.m., with the garage officially opening to the public on Saturday, Sept. 14, per a Fairfax County Department of Transportation (FCDOT) release.

Kenshaun Thompson, 26, faces up to 15 years in prison after a federal jury convicted him last Thursday (Aug. 15) of three charges of possessing and receiving stolen mail, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced.

The 32,000-square-foot play area dedicated to all things Legos will kick off the birthday festivities at 9:45 a.m. tomorrow (Friday) — exactly one year after it launched — by announcing a name for its giraffe outside Springfield Town Center.
