The first building in The Boro’s expansion has arrived.

The Trillium, a 15-story senior living community, celebrated its opening at 1620 Boro Place in Tysons on Aug. 1, delivering 181 independent living, assisted living and memory care apartments.

“We are thrilled to open The Trillium and begin welcoming residents to the community,” The Trillium Tysons Executive Director Brian Donohoe said in a press release shared on Thursday (Aug. 15). “Our world-class services and amenities are thoughtfully designed to support seniors’ active lifestyles, while providing peace of mind for their futures as they age with purpose and intention.”

Developed by Silverstone Senior Living and managed by Greystone Communities, The Trillium began construction in early 2022 as “Block J” in the second phase of The Boro, which is expanding north of Westpark Drive with an additional 1.1 million square feet of mixed-use development.

The project delivered an adjacent portion of Allsboro Park, a publicly accessible green space that will extend north to Greensboro Drive when fully built out.

For residents, amenities include rooftop gardens, an internet lounge, an art studio, a community theater, a billiards and game room, a fitness center, a full-service day spa and salon, and various social, recreational and educational activities, according to a brochure.

The building has six different dining options, including two restaurants, a cocktail bar, a coffee shop, the rooftop LaVue Lounge and a private room called Partake that can be reserved for visitors or special occasions.

Greystone, which also operates The Providence in the MetroWest neighborhood near the Vienna Metro station, says its programs promote “community and connection.”

“For today’s seniors, change is not always easy,” Greystone Senior Vice President Mindy Cheek said. “We strive to make their next chapter an exciting one, where they can maintain their independence, build new friendships, and stay as active and engaged as they want…We have purpose-built amenities like rooftop gardens and community theatres designed to invite residents to socialize, build and nurture relationships.”

Developer The Meridian Group’s Fairfax County-approved plan for expanding The Boro calls for three more multi-family residential buildings, totaling up to 560 units and 50,000 square feet of ground-floor retail. A final, optional “Block L” could consist of townhomes or a health club.
