United Airlines has announced two new international destinations to be served from Dulles International Airport next year.
Daily service to Toulouse, France, is slated to begin on April 26, 2027 before three-days-per-week service to Milan, Italy commences on May 28.
The new destinations represent United’s goal of “expanding its efforts beyond traditional European gateways,” the airline said in its Aug. 25 announcement.
“As we continue investing in the future of our Dulles hub, we’re growing with more destinations, more choices and a more elevated travel experience,” said Henry Bird, managing director of United’s Dulles hub operations.
The two cities currently are not served by any airlines from the Washington region.
According to United’s announced timetable, with all times being local at the destination:
- Flights to Toulouse will depart Dulles at 6:50 p.m. daily, arriving at 8:15 a.m. the following day, with the return flight departing at 10:15 a.m. and arriving at 1:25 p.m.
- Flights to Milan will depart Dulles at 5:40 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, arriving at 8:15 a.m. the next morning, with return service departing at 10:20 a.m. and arriving at Dulles at 1:55 p.m.
The Toulouse route will use Airbus A321XLR aircraft, the newest model in United’s fleet. The Milan flight will operate with Boeing 767-300ER aircraft.
United has announced plans to inaugurate four-class A321XLR aircraft internationally on Dec. 1 on routes from Dulles to Amsterdam and Dublin. Prior to entering international service, the aircraft is flying select U.S. domestic routes.
Over the past year, United has added international service from Dulles to Reykjavík, Iceland as well as Halifax and Québec City in Canada.
Service from Dulles to Los Cabos, Mexico is slated to begin Oct. 25, with services to the Costa Rican city of Liberia and Colombian city of Cartagena set to start on Dec. 17.
United is the dominant carrier at Dulles, with mainline and regional service accounting for about two-thirds of all traffic at the airport.
The airline and the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority are collaborating on a $20 billion expansion plan for Dulles Airport, even as they prepare to open a new Concourse E in the coming weeks, providing additional capacity for United service.
In addition to new international service from Dulles, United has announced plans for adding the following destinations in 2027 at other hub airports in the U.S.
- San Francisco International: Okinawa, Japan
- New York-Liberty International: Luxembourg City, Luxembourg; Marseille, France; Ibiza, Spain; Valencia, Spain; Terceira, Portugal; Ljubljana, Slovenia; Olbia (Sardinia), Italy; and Catania (Sicily), Italy
