Students at Fairfax County Public Schools are getting another snow day.

FCPS Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid announced this evening that schools will be closed tomorrow (Thursday) due to still-challenging road conditions after a storm dumped six to 10 inches of snow across the county on Monday (Jan. 6).

Fairfax County Public Library to stop offering Kanopy streaming service

Any Fairfax County Public Library (FCPL) card holders who’ve been taking advantage of Kanopy might want to start working through their watchlist now.

FCPL announced on Sunday (Jan. 5) that it isn’t renewing its subscription to the on-demand movie and TV streaming service, so users will no longer be able to access the platform after Jan. 31.

Popular senior movie days return to Reston for 30th anniversary

One of Reston Association’s most popular programs is coming back later this month.

The Senior Movie Day program will kick off its 30th year on Jan. 22 with a screening of the Annette Bening-starring biopic “Nyad” at Look Dine-In Cinemas (11940 Market Street) in Reston Town Center.

JUST IN: Whole Foods sets target date for closing Idylwood store

Whole Foods Market has set a grand opening date for its new store in Falls Church, which means its 25-year stay in Idylwood is officially coming to an end.

The grocery store’s last day of business at 7511 Leesburg Pike in Idylwood Plaza is currently scheduled for Monday, Feb. 3. However, the timing could change “depending on the store’s in-stock levels,” a Whole Foods spokesperson told FFXnow.

New owner of Herndon-area office park confident in leasing potential

An office park just southwest of Herndon near the Innovation Center Metro Station has a new owner.

Finmarc Management, a commercial real estate firm with headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland, announced on Jan. 2 that it has completed a $51 million acquisition of Dulles Corner, an office complex with approximately 620,000 square feet of space across four buildings.

Fairfax County Public Schools students have been granted a third extra day of winter break.

FCPS announced just after 5 p.m. that no classes will be held tomorrow (Wednesday), as cleanup efforts continue following yesterday’s snowstorm, which dumped an estimated 6 to 10 inches of snow on the county.

Vehicle data provider Carfax to open three-floor HQ at Reston Station

Carfax is going to spend 2025 setting up a new corporate headquarters in Reston.

The vehicle data company, which might be most recognizable for its fox-starring TV ads, has signed a lease for approximately 87,000 square feet of office space at 1906 Reston Metro Plaza in Reston Station, property developer and manager Comstock Companies announced yesterday (Monday).

Developer details plan to turn Merrifield office park into residential neighborhood

A sprawling collection of offices and warehouses in northern Merrifield could someday look more like the newer development around the nearby Dunn Loring Metro station.

Property owner Link Logistics and an affiliate of EYA Development hope to replace the 41-acre Prosperity Business Campus at 2750 Prosperity Avenue with a resident-focused “walkable urban neighborhood,” according to a development plan submitted to Fairfax County on Friday (Jan. 3).

Snowfall estimates from yesterday’s storm are in, suggesting experiences varied drastically across Fairfax County.

On the low end, residents in the northwestern area of the county, including Herndon, saw approximately 5.9 to 6.1 inches of snow, based on unofficial observations reported at 4:39 a.m. by the National Weather Service.
