Toxic gases in Reston Station office building sickened workers, tenant alleges

Dozens of Kimley-Horn and Associates employees experienced health issues after being exposed to toxic gases in the Reston Station office where they worked, the North Carolina-based engineering firm alleges in a recent court filing.

Kimley-Horn shared the allegations on Nov. 6 in response to a lawsuit filed in October by landlord and Reston Station developer Comstock, which is accusing its tenant of underpaying rent for the three suites it leases at 11400 Commerce Park Drive.

A chef who previously worked for the prestigious Japanese restaurant chain Nobu is now serving up sushi and wagyu steak in Tysons.

Modan opened to customers last Friday (Nov. 8) at 1788 Chain Bridge Road on the second floor of the Heming apartments in Scotts Run. Currently in soft-opening mode, the restaurant is offering dinner service from 5-10 p.m. for up to 60 guests.

Three more people died in vehicle crashes on Fairfax County roads over Veterans Day weekend.

A single-vehicle crash in Reston early Sunday (Nov. 10) morning resulted in the deaths of the driver and a passenger, and later that day, the Fairfax County Police Department announced that a woman injured in a separate crash in Oakton on Saturday (Nov. 9) had died.

A woman was seriously injured in a crash that occurred near Oakton Shopping Center this morning (Saturday), police say.

Officers are currently on the scene of the two-vehicle crash on Hunter Mill Road at Lynnhaven Place, the Fairfax County Police Department tweeted at 12:03 p.m.

JUST IN: Lincolnia man charged with murder in mother’s death

A Lincolnia man was arrested yesterday (Thursday) after fatally beating his mother, Fairfax County police say.

Officers were called to a house in the 6300 block of Lincolnia Road around 9:40 a.m. for a report of a deceased person, according to the Fairfax County Police Department. They found John Kim, 39, at the scene, along with his mother, 75-year-old Myong Kim, who was suffering from injuries to the upper body.

Pedestrian bridge opens over W&OD Trail near Reston Town Center

A new route is now available to help pedestrians and bicyclists travel between Reston Town Center and its paired Metro station.

The newly completed pedestrian bridge over the Washington & Old Dominion Trail near the Reston Town Center Transit Station (12051 Bluemont Way) drew “lots of people” when it opened over the last weekend (Nov. 2-3), one reader told FFXnow.

The D.C. area’s historic rain-free streak continues after a predicted chance of precipitation this morning (Thursday) failed to materialize.

The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG) announced today that it has extended a drought watch that has been in place since July, urging nearly 6 million residents and businesses in the region to take voluntary steps to conserve water.

A Maryland artist who has worked for nearly half a century is the subject of the latest exhibit unveiled by the Tephra Institute of Contemporary Art in Reston.

Betsy Packard’s solo exhibition “Ways of Thinking About Your Life” opened on Nov. 1 at the institute’s gallery in the Signature apartment building at 11850 Freedom Drive, where it will remain on display through Feb. 1, 2025.

A new restaurant specializing in cuisine from the Arabian Penninsula, particularly Iraq and Kuwait, is moving into the Town of Vienna.

Dar Mariam anticipates opening in late December at 107 Maple Avenue West, the storefront that was vacated this summer by Donutchew, according to its Instagram profile.

Trees along Dulles Toll Road in Reston removed by accident, MWAA says

Multiple trees have been erroneously cut down along a ramp from Wiehle Avenue to the Dulles Toll Road in Reston, the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority says.

Kevin Lerner, who works in a Reston Station office building, says he noticed a team of contractors starting to remove trees along the entrance ramp to the westbound toll road lanes around 10 a.m. on Oct. 31. By 1 p.m., over half of the tree stand had been cut down.
