(Updated at 6 p.m. on 2/9/2024) A former staffer for state Sen. Barbara Favola has ushered a new postpartum care center into the world.

Sanu Postnatal Retreat launched on Jan. 31 at The Watermark Hotel (1825 Capital One Drive South) in Tysons, offering stays ranging from three to seven or more nights to new parents in the post-hospital period of recovery from a pregnancy.


A circus that accommodates both performers and audience members with disabilities will swing back into Tysons later this February for a new, one-day-only show.

Omnium Circus will launch its 2024 tour of the production “I’m Possible” at Capital One Hall (7750 Capital One Tower Road) on Feb. 24. It will be the third visit to the Tysons performing arts venue for the nonprofit-run circus, which first stopped by in February 2022.


A new cafe is on its way to RTC West in Reston.

Kook Dogg Cafe, a new concept, will sell delicatessen sandwiches, toasted hot subs, salads and fresh pizzas, along with a selection of craft beers. It’s slated to take over space at 12100 Sunset Hills Road that was vacated last year by Little Beast Cafe and Bistro.


The now-annual Mayors’ Fitness Challenge between the Town of Vienna and cities of Fairfax and Falls Church is still more than a month away, but the competitors are already getting warmed up.

Registration is now open for the contest to determine which community is the most fit, a title that has gone to Vienna for two straight years.


Nash & Smash is bringing its brand of fried chicken, smash burgers, and Nashville-style sandwiches to the Herndon area.

Spice Village, a food hall in Village Center at Dulles (2501 Centreville Road), is now selling items from Nash & Smash. The hall also has food from restaurants like Peri Peri Original and Kallisto Steakhouse, according to company representative Zayan Abbasi.


A new Korean barbecue eatery is now cooking at Halstead Square near the Dunn Loring Metro station.

Meat Project opened the doors to its new location on the ground floor of The Lofts apartment building at 2727-G Merrilee Drive in mid-January, marking its first expansion beyond its original site in Centreville.
