Expect foggy conditions before 10 AM, followed by mostly sunny skies with a high of around 82°F. Winds from the southwest will blow at 8 to 14 mph, with gusts up to 23 mph. Annual bluebells celebration to take over Riverbend Park in Great Falls

Cherry blossoms are so last week. In Fairfax County, April is the delicate bluebell’s time to shine.

The wildflower will take center stage at the Fairfax County Park Authority’s Bluebells at the Bend celebration, which is set to return to Riverbend Park (8700 Potomac Hills Street) in Great Falls on Saturday, April 11.

NEW: Tysons’ former Bed Bath & Beyond might turn into grocery store

A grocery chain appears to be working on a new store in Tysons, but unfortunately for residents of the Park Crest neighborhood, it won’t be filling the void left by Harris Teeter last year.

For the past couple of months, Fairfax County staffers have been reviewing renovation plans that would transform a portion of the former Bed Bath and Beyond building at 2051 Chain Bridge Road into an Aldi.

Thursday night will be mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8pm, a low of around 51°F, and east winds at 7 to 10 mph, with gusts up to 20 mph. Fairfax County unveils National Poetry Month events with food, live readings and more

As the calendar flips to April, organizers around Fairfax County are prepared to celebrate National Poetry Month.

With the support of ArtsFairfax, Fairfax County Poet Laureate Angelique Palmer is launching a “Poetry &” initiative that will bring a handful of events to the county throughout the month, with some starting as soon as next week.

Shipley Do-Nuts eyes summer opening for new Vienna location

Vienna residents will have to wait a little while longer before a forthcoming Shipley Do-Nuts location officially opens for business.

Construction to build out the space adjacent to Smoothie King is underway. But despite recent speculation that it could open as soon as next month, the neighborhood’s new donut shop is not expecting to open its doors until later this summer.

Expect a mostly sunny day with a high of 86°F and a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 PM. Southwest winds will range from 8 to 10 mph, with gusts up to 18 mph. By Wednesday night, showers and possible thunderstorms are likely, especially before 2 AM, becoming less frequent after that. It will be mostly cloudy with a low of 58°F, and south winds shifting to east at 5 to 7 mph. There is a 70% chance of precipitation, with rainfall amounts between a tenth and a quarter of an inch, potentially higher during thunderstorms. See more from Weather.gov.

Sheeba Restaurant plans new Yemeni eatery in Vienna this summer

Vienna is slated to welcome a new, family-owned destination for Yemeni cuisine over the next few months.

Sheeba Restaurant, a franchise offering both Yemeni and Mediterranean cuisine, is currently preparing to open at 111 Church Street NW, where it’ll offer a variety of specialties, including sandwiches, salads, shawarma platters, all-day shak-shookah and spreads like hummus and baba ghanouj.

After success in Arlington, Soul Thai restaurateur expands to Centreville

Building on the success of her popular Thai restaurant in Arlington, a Centreville resident plans to open another restaurant this spring — this time, much closer to home.

Nutthana “Nancy” Kittitaraphan, the owner of Soul Thai Kitchen & Bar on Wilson Blvd, will open the doors of Surreal Thai Kitchen & Bar at 5653 Stone Road in Centreville’s busy Village Center shopping plaza around April 3.

West Coast pizza chain decides on Reston to start N. Va. expansion

As part of a plan to expand out east, a pizza chain currently based mostly on the West Coast has set its sights on Reston’s South Lakes Village Center.

Mountain Mike’s Pizza has secured a space at the shopping center, and intends to open at 11160-D South Lakes Drive — the former Pet Valu storefront — by the end of this year, a spokesperson told FFXnow.
