The storms passing through the D.C. area this evening (Friday) have claimed two lives as a result of trees falling on cars, police say.

Frye Road has been closed between Manor Drive and Pole Road in Woodlawn after a tree fell on a car, killing a woman, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

A Herndon man is facing multiple criminal charges after allegedly grabbing and kissing a child.

The victim reported on Monday (May 12) at 8:40 a.m. that she had been walking in the 13300 block of Hungerford Place in the Hutchison neighborhood near Herndon when a man approached her, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

A Fairfax man who allegedly exposed himself multiple times in Oakton and Chantilly over the past decade has been arrested.

The Fairfax County Police Department shared last month that detectives were investigating a series of indecent exposure incidents after receiving a report of an unidentified man exposing himself “to multiple victims” near the 4600 block of Stonecroft Road in Chantilly between 5 and 6 p.m. on March 30.

Officers and medics were dispatched to Westwood Center Drive at Cornerside Blvd around 9:34 p.m. today (Wednesday) after a driver struck a pedestrian, according to the police scanner.

Fairfax County police are investigating a single-vehicle crash in Clifton that killed a teenager yesterday (Thursday).

Officers responded to the 11000 block of Chapel Road at 3:24 p.m. for a report of a 2005 Toyota Highlander SUV “that left the roadway and struck a tree,” the Fairfax County Police Department said in a press release today (Friday).

The man allegedly behind a recent shooting outside a Bailey’s Crossroads nightclub has been arrested.

Detectives believe Evangel McNeill, a 35-year-old from Maryland, shot another man during an argument outside the Black Rose Lounge (5815 Seminary Road) around 1 a.m. on April 30, the Fairfax County Police Department says.

Civil rights advocates had been pushing the Fairfax County Police Department for years to establish clear rules limiting when officers can pursue individuals on foot.

However, the department’s implementation of a formal foot pursuit policy last month inspired consternation, rather than celebration, from community organizations that had advocated for the reform, including the Fairfax County chapter of the NAACP.

Update — The Fairfax County Police Department announced on June 25 that a 34-year-old man from Maryland has been arrested in connection with the vehicle break-ins reported around Tysons.

“He is being held at Prince George’s County Jail awaiting extradition back to Fairfax County where he will be charged with three counts of Felony Credit Card Theft, three counts of Credit Card Fraud, and three counts of Destruction of Property,” the FCPD said.

Fairfax County police are investigating a shooting outside a nightclub in Bailey’s Crossroads that sent a man to the hospital early this morning (Wednesday).

Officers responded to the Black Rose Lounge at 5815 Seminary Road at 1:02 a.m. for a report of shots fired. According to the police scanner, officers in the neighborhood heard “what we believe is a lot of gunfire” and sent someone to “check it out” before the official dispatch came in.

An Alexandria woman has been arrested in connection with a bank robbery that occurred in Annandale on Monday (April 28).

The Fairfax County Police Department alleges that Vicky Vien Phung, 36, took just over $1,000 from the Capital One Bank at 7030 Little River Turnpike before fleeing.
