A Mount Vernon man will serve more than three decades in prison after being convicted of murder for a 2022 fatal shooting in Woodlawn.

Fairfax County Circuit Court Judge David Oblon sentenced Kyjuan Trott-McLean, 45, this morning (Friday) to 40 years in prison for second-degree murder and an additional three years for using a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Two teenagers accused of ramming a vehicle through the doors of a Newington gun store before fleeing with nearly two dozen stolen firearms have been arrested.

Both 16 years old, the juveniles are believed to have been part of a three-person crew that burglarized Dominion Defense at 7200 Fullerton Road, Suite 2 around 1:30 a.m. today (Monday), swiping 21 firearms — 19 long guns and two handguns — from the store, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

Two teenagers are facing criminal charges after reportedly brandishing a gun at Mount Vernon Woods Elementary School in Woodlawn yesterday (Thursday).

Officers responded to the school at 4015 Fielding Street at 2:53 p.m. after “several” students reported seeing two men on the property, one of whom displayed a gun, the Fairfax County Police Department says.

An Edison High School student was arrested this morning (Thursday) for allegedly bringing a gun to the Rose Hill school.

According to the Fairfax County Police Department, a student alerted the school resource officer (SRO) assigned to Edison “about a possible firearm on school property.”

A D.C. man will serve almost two decades in prison for allegedly participating in the stalking, robbery and kidnapping of two Fairfax County residents as well as a woman in Maryland.

A U.S. District Court judge in D.C. sentenced Tyree Eugene McCombs, 29, to 228 months, or 19 years, in prison yesterday (Tuesday) after he pleaded guilty last year to robbery and kidnapping charges, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for D.C. announced.

A man has been charged with an alleged armed carjacking in Annandale yesterday (Wednesday) that led to an arrest in Tysons.

Fairfax County police officers were dispatched to the 7000 block of Columbia Pike around 7:32 p.m. after a caller reported being carjacked “at gunpoint,” according to scanner traffic.

Fairfax County police arrested a man earlier this week who allegedly pointed a gun at another person while at the county’s homeless shelter in Bailey’s Crossroads.

Officers were dispatched to the Bailey’s Shelter and Supportive Housing in the 5900 block of Seminary Road at approximately 7:56 p.m. on Wednesday (Jan. 22) for a reported weapons violation, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

A Lincolnia man is facing multiple charges after police say he fired several gunshots in the residential neighborhood where he lives.

Officers responded to the 6400 block of Montrose Street in Lincolnia at 1 p.m. last Friday, Jan. 17 after a neighbor called 911 to report a “suspicious noise” from possibly as many as 12 gunshots, according to scanner traffic.

Two teenagers are facing criminal charges after they were found with guns and drugs in a vehicle that had been reported stolen, Fairfax County police say.

Officers were called to the Fair Oaks Mall parking lot near Macy’s at approximately 4:44 p.m. last Thursday, Jan. 16 after a woman reported that her 2013 Hyundai sedan had been stolen, the Fairfax County Police Department said in a news release.

State legislators representing Fairfax County are taking the lead on major issues in the Virginia General Assembly’s 2025 session, filing proposals addressing reproductive rights, same-sex marriage, gun control and election reforms.

Originally slated to begin yesterday (Jan. 8), the legislative session has been delayed by water service issues in Richmond stemming from the snowstorm on Monday (Jan. 6). Lawmakers will now convene on Monday, Jan. 13 and remain in session through Feb. 22.
