The convenience store chain 7-Eleven will be slightly less ubiquitous by the end of 2024.

The store inside Tysons Corner Center closed permanently on Sept. 23, a mall spokesperson recently confirmed to FFXnow. More closures may be coming in the weeks ahead, as 7-Eleven plans to shutter 444 “underperforming” locations across North America.

A light therapy and infrared sauna is coming to the Midtown at Reston Town Center.

A Fairfax County permit application shows that Beem Light Sauna will open at 1864 Explorer Street, Suite B. The business submitted plans for interior alterations to allow sauna suites and restrooms on Monday (Oct. 7).

A government contractor that provides “AI-infused software and insights” has crossed the border from Loudoun to Fairfax County.

Unison opened its new headquarters at the Westpark Corporate Center in Tysons with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday (Sept. 24). Previously based in Sterling, the company says it spent a year building out the new space at 8444 Westpark Drive, Suite 920.

A nearly 3,200-square-foot facility for dog training has opened in Springfield.

Zoom Room, located at 6812 Bland Street, held its grand opening last Saturday (Sept. 21). It’s the first location in the D.C. area for the national chain, which currently has more than 100 centers nationwide.

Some new dining and shopping options are in development at Tysons Corner Center.

Fried chicken connoisseurs may be interested to know that the D.C. region’s biggest mall will soon be home to a Popeyes. Temporary signage wrapped around the fast food restaurant’s future space in the first-floor food court notes that it’ll be open Sundays — perhaps a cheeky shot at its rival in the chicken sandwich wars of 2019.

A reformer pilates studio is coming soon to the Village Center at Dulles south of Herndon. 

Club Pilates is slated to open a 2,539-square-foot location in the plaza, which is anchored by Giant. It already has a location at Fox Mill Shopping Center in Herndon.

Flagship Carwash is looking to open another location in the Herndon area, this time right by the Fairfax and Loudoun county border.

Earlier this month, the company submitted a development plan to Fairfax County seeking to rezone a portion of land at 1013 Dranesville Road from commercial and residential uses to strictly commercial uses.

One of baking’s biggest brands is bringing its pop-up shop to Fairfax Corner.

Spearheaded by King Arthur Baking Company, the store will open Monday (Sept. 16) as a one-stop shop for a wide range of baking needs. Many of the brand’s products — including 27 different flours and 86 baking mixes — will be available, along with other ingredients, tools and more.

A homemade ice cream parlor can set up shop in the Crossroads of Dulles after receiving approval from Herndon late last month.

The Herndon Planning Commission unanimously approved a special exception on Aug. 26 for Ice Ice Ice Cream at the office condominiums, expanding the operating hours and number of permitted seats beyond what was allowed for previous occupants.
