The custom burger eatery closed for good at the end of July after 15 years in Reston Town Center. Workers dismantled The Counter’s illuminated sign above the door at 11922 Democracy Drive Saturday (Aug. 24) evening — around the same time that Ice Cream Jubilee was wrapping up its grand opening.

Ice Cream Jubilee will dole out discounted scoops and free hats this Friday (Aug. 23) to celebrate its grand opening in Reston.

After an extended delay related to permitting challenges, the ice cream chain opened its first Fairfax County location at 11990 Market Street, Suite D, in Reston Town Center on Aug. 2.

Meta, the technology company that owns Facebook and Instagram, appears to be planning a dramatic downsizing of its office space in Reston Town Center, the Washington Business Journal says.

A listing on the commercial real estate database CoStar indicates that two floors of the office building at 1818 Library Street will become available in June 2025, the WBJ reported yesterday (Wednesday). That would amount to 51,000 square feet or two-thirds of the roughly 75,000 square feet of office space that Facebook leased in 2019.

Ice Cream Jubilee has finally arrived at Reston Town Center, just in time for the final month of summer.

Following a months-long delay in obtaining permits, the D.C.-based ice cream shop kicked off a soft opening today (Friday) at 11990 Market Street, Suite D, where it’s serving up scoops from 1-9 p.m.

An engineering company that helped build Metro’s Silver Line extension will continue calling Reston Town Center its home.

Bechtel announced yesterday (Wednesday) that it has signed a lease to expand its corporate headquarters at One Reston Overlook (12011 Sunset Hills Road). The engineering and construction firm will now occupy 11 floors in the 12-story, 320,000-square-foot office building with an additional 289,000 square feet of space.

Shake Shack is expanding north of the Dulles Toll Road for the first time in Northern Virginia.

The burger-and-shake chain signed a lease yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon for space in Reston Town Center, a Shake Shack spokesperson confirmed to FFXnow. The new restaurant is slated to open in 2025.

The Washington & Old Dominion (W&OD) Trail will be momentarily off limits near Reston Town Center, as construction continues on a new pedestrian bridge.

The trail will be closed from Friday, July 26 through Sunday, July 28 while workers install the bridge, which will cross over the trail to connect the existing town center with the Reston Next development emerging around the Metro station.

Boston Properties is betting on office for the next phase of its Reston Town Center expansion.

The developer submitted plans to Fairfax County on Saturday (June 29) that would increase the amount of office space allowed in the mixed-use neighborhood dubbed RTC or Reston Next that’s now under construction near the Reston Town Center Metro station, while decreasing retail, hotel and residential uses.

A Maryland-based nonprofit that supports athletes with limited mobility will stride across state lines this fall with a new 5K event in Reston.

Athletes Serving Athletes (ASA) opened registration last week for its first Virginia RunFest, which will be held at Reston Town Center on Saturday, Sept. 22. It will be the organization’s first-ever event in Virginia, supplementing the race that it has hosted in Hunt Valley, Maryland, where it’s headquartered, for the past 16 years.

Work is underway to signalize the New Dominion Parkway and Explorer Street intersection on the north side of Reston Town Center.

Mast arms for the long-awaited traffic lights have been erected on all four sides of the intersection, and construction on the curbs, including improved accessibility aprons, are mostly complete, according to Reston Town Center Association (RTCA) Executive Director Robert Goudie.
