A man from the Mount Vernon area is facing multiple criminal charges after allegedly attacking a woman in Woodlawn last week.

According to the Fairfax County Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 3800 block of Roxbury Court at 12:46 a.m. last Thursday (June 5) for a report of an abduction and attempted sexual assault.

After reevaluating plans to clear more trees throughout the Washington & Old Dominion (W&OD) Trail corridor in the spring, Dominion Energy is revving up its chainsaw once more.

The utility shared yesterday (Thursday) that its forestry team has “identified several areas” along the 45-mile trail in Fairfax, Arlington and Loudoun counties where tree removals will be necessary to preserve the electrical grid.

A man has been charged with attempted abduction after police say he tried to lure a child who was waiting for a school bus.

Hugo Perez Soliz, 45, allegedly drove up to the child near Wadsworth Court and Little River Turnpike in yesterday (Tuesday) morning and “attempted to persuade the child” to get into his black Subaru sedan, the Fairfax County Police Department says.

A developer hopes to alchemize real estate gold out of a faltering building in Coppermine Commons, an office complex in the McNair area south of Herndon.

Fairfax County will expand its speed camera program to 10 more public schools this summer, several months after it announced plans to install the devices.

After giving the public notice on Monday (June 2), the county will roll out the new cameras in two batches, starting with three cameras in early July. Another seven cameras will come online in mid-August before the next school year gets underway.

A Lorton man was shot last night (Monday) by a teen identified by police as his daughter’s boyfriend.

According to the Fairfax County Police Department, officers responded to the 9800 block of East Hill Drive at 9:56 p.m. for reports of a shooting in the Lorton Station neighborhood.
