A long-anticipated restaurant offering all-you-can-eat sushi has finally opened its doors in Herndon.

Sushi Oishii’s fourth D.C.-area location officially opened earlier this month at 13195 Parcher Avenue, replacing the long-departed Bar Louie mere miles from Dulles International Airport.

FCPD: Naked man dies after fight near Dunn Loring Metro station

Fairfax County police are investigating the death of a man who was reportedly involved in a fight near the Dunn Loring Metro station early this morning (Monday).

Around 1:10 a.m., law enforcement responded to the intersection of Merrilee Drive and Prosperity Avenue in Merrifield after multiple callers reported a physical fight between two men.

Annandale drug dealer sentenced for fentanyl, gun possession

An Annandale-based drug dealer will spend the next 15 years in federal prison for possessing nearly 10,000 fentanyl pills with an apparent intent to distribute them.

Marcantonio Juarez Velasquez, 20, was sentenced yesterday (Thursday) in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia — more than a year after his arrest, according to court records.

Daughter charged with murder in stabbing of 79-year-old Herndon woman

A 31-year-old Herndon woman has been arrested and charged with the stabbing death of her 79-year-old mother, the Fairfax County Police Department announced today.

Helena Little was taken into custody at 3 p.m. yesterday (Thursday), two days after her mother — Norma Little — was found unresponsive inside her apartment in the 2300 block of Dulles Station Blvd.

Man faces 169 years in federal prison over threats to D.C.-area Jewish centers

A Maryland man faces 169 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to making threats against several D.C.-area Jewish institutions — including two in Fairfax.

Clift Seferlis, 55, from Garrett Park pleaded guilty in federal court on Monday (Nov. 17) to a total of 25 counts of two different crimes: 17 counts of mailing threatening communications and eight counts of obstruction of free exercise of religious beliefs.

Herndon private school settles lawsuit that alleged antisemitic harassment

A Herndon private school has settled a lawsuit with a Jewish family who claimed that the school discriminated against their children due to their religion, Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares announced today (Tuesday).

The Nysmith School will provide just shy of $150,000 in monetary relief to the family, in addition to “implementing new policies and procedures” after allegedly expelling three students who complained of antisemitic harassment from their peers, the attorney general said.

Fairfax County mom advocates for health care tax credits extension on Capitol Hill

A Fairfax County woman joined Democratic lawmakers on Capitol Hill last week (Wednesday) to call for action with substantial increases to health care costs on the horizon.

With the Affordable Care Act’s enhanced premium tax credits slated to expire at the end of the year, 57-year-old Lili Combs stands to see her annual health insurance premiums increase by nearly $1,000, she said steps from the U.S. Capitol building.

FCPD continues search for 2023 murder suspect

Fairfax County police continue to search for a man accused of fatally shooting another man at a strip mall in Bailey’s Crossroads more than two years ago.

Javon Antonio Reid, a 34-year-old from Maryland, has been on the run ever since the May 7, 2023 shooting, the Fairfax County Police Department said Friday (Nov. 14).
