The man convicted of assaulting a deaf passenger on an airplane bound for Dulles International Airport has been sentenced to prison.

Everett Chad Nelson, 44, was sentenced by a federal judge on Tuesday (Sept. 2) to two-and-a-half years behind bars, though he will receive credit for time served, court documents said.

Arturo Elmore-Adon was sentenced Thursday (Aug. 29) to 31 years behind bars, though all but seven were suspended by Fairfax County Circuit Court Judge Michael F. Devine, according to online court records.

Fairfax County police have arrested a man who was involved in a barricade situation in Bailey’s Crossroads over the weekend.

Asenai Zigita was taken into custody this afternoon (Thursday) near the Barcroft View Apartments by over a dozen officers with the Fairfax County Police Department’s Fugitive Tracking and Apprehension Unit, who gathered outside the Bailey’s Crossroads fire station after making the arrest.

An Alexandria man was arrested earlier this week in connection to a carjacking in the Groveton neighborhood of Fairfax County.

David Rodney Lewis II, 34, is accused of assaulting a delivery driver in the 3300 block of Lockheed Blvd before jumping into the victim’s vehicle and driving off, the Fairfax County Police Department says.

Those attending Fairfax County School Board meetings in the future may need to give themselves a little extra time to get settled in.

Starting this school year, Fairfax County Public Schools announced that it will expand its growing weapons screening program to school board meetings, requiring attendees to pass through OpenGate detectors before gaining entry.
