    🌧️ Saturday’s forecast

    Expect showers and thunderstorms throughout the day, with areas of smoke in the morning and mostly cloudy skies. The high will be around 93, with a heat index up to 102. Winds will come from the south at 6 to 11 mph, with gusts up to 22 mph. There’s a 70% chance of rain, with possible amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, higher in storms. Saturday night will also see likely showers and thunderstorms until 2am, then a slight chance of showers until 3am, with a low of around 73 and a southwest wind at 7 mph. Rainfall amounts could again range between a tenth and quarter of an inch, potentially more in storms, with a 60% chance of precipitation. See more from Weather.gov.

    Tysons Galleria focused on ‘playing the hits’ to refill food hall, now fully leased

    When shoppers at Tysons Galleria ascend to the third floor for a bite to eat, they can choose between handmade pasta, burgers, street tacos, two different types of southeast Asian cuisine and two of Northern Virginia’s hottest chains.

    The assortment stands in sharp contrast to what visitors encountered just three years ago, when the food hall lineup had dwindled to mainstay Andy’s Pizza and a couple of other holdovers that soon left.

    In the afternoon, expect mostly sunny skies with widespread smoke and temperatures reaching around 91°F. Winds will be calm, shifting to northwest at approximately 5 mph later in the day. On Friday night, there’s a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 a.m., with continued widespread smoke and increasing cloud cover.     ArtsFairfax launches exhibition series bringing local artists into new community venues

    ArtsFairfax is planning a series of exhibitions to showcase local artists around Fairfax County.

    The “ArtsFairfax Presents” initiative was developed after a survey commissioned by the local arts agency last year revealed that, for many artists working in Fairfax County, finding affordable and appropriate spaces to showcase their work can be a challenge.

    Noodles & Company permanently closes Herndon restaurant

    Noodles & Company has closed its Herndon-area restaurant, one of more than two dozen locations expected to shutter this year.

    The fast-casual chain’s closure yesterday (Wednesday) at 2405 Centerville Road in the Village Center at Dulles leaves just a handful of open locations in Fairfax County. Some of the other locations closed in recent years include Chantilly, Vienna, and Hybla Valley.

    Great Falls couple to reopen 17-year-old restaurant as a wine bistro

    A few years ago, Julie and Kaveh Safa purchased their dream home in Great Falls, right on the same street where Kaveh grew up. Not long afterward, the couple’s dream unexpectedly expanded with the purchase of a longstanding restaurant in their new community.

    Now, that restaurant has been fully rebranded and re-envisioned as The Cellar on Seneca after operating for nearly two decades at 1025 Seneca Road, Suite I, as Brx American Bistro.

    Water circus to visit Fair Oaks Mall this week

    A circus will bring its cast of aerialists, acrobats, jugglers, and dancers — and a custom-designed stage filled with 35,000 gallons of water — to Fair Oaks Mall for the first time later this week.

    Cirque Italia’s tour “Water Circus Atlantis” will begin performing at the mall on Friday (July 17) at 7:30 p.m. and continuing throughout the weekend.
