The man accused of fatally stabbing a woman at a Hybla Valley bus stop last month had been flagged by local law enforcement as a repeat offender with a record of knife-related incidents, emails show.

Three months before Abdul Jalloh was charged with the Feb. 23 murder of Stephanie Minter, a Fairfax County Police Department commander expressed concern to prosecutors that Jalloh would strike again, according to documents provided to FFXnow by the conservative nonprofit Virginians for Safe Communities.

A Fairfax County police pilot program that uses drones to gather initial information in emergencies continues to grow after receiving overwhelmingly positive returns.

Launched in fall 2025, the “Drone as First Responder” program features specially-outfitted drones that are deployed and remotely piloted to the location where an emergency is reported.

Two people have been hospitalized following a multi-vehicle crash on Route 29 in the Legato area of Fair Oaks.

Fairfax County police officers, firefighters and medics were dispatched to Route 29 at Piney Branch Road around 4:15 p.m. today (Monday) for a reported crash involving three to four vehicles, according to scanner traffic.

A pedestrian struck by a driver on John Marr Drive in Annandale this weekend has died, police say.

Sun Hyo Kim, a 56-year-old woman from Annandale, was crossing John Marr Drive from south to north when the driver of a BMW struck her between Ravensworth Road and Backlick Road around 5:37 p.m. on Saturday (Feb. 28), according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

Law enforcement has identified the man who was shot and killed by police earlier this week after stabbing three family members inside a Mantua apartment.

The assailant, who allegedly killed both his wife and daughter, was publicly identified today (Wednesday) by the Fairfax County Police Department as 54-year-old Chhatra Thapa of Fairfax.

Employees of a Springfield Plaza store stifled an attempted armed robbery last night (Monday) after disarming a would-be perpetrator of his gun, police said.

Officers responded to the Cricket Wireless store, located at 6330 Springfield Plaza in the northeast corner of the shopping center, around 8 p.m. after receiving a report of the attempted heist, according to scanner traffic.

A man identified earlier as a person of interest in a woman’s suspicious death in Hybla Valley on Monday (Feb. 23) has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder, Fairfax County police announced on Wednesday (Feb. 25).

Police had pegged Abdul Jalloh, 32, as the last person to see Stephanie Minter, a 41-year-old woman from Fredericksburg who was found dead with “upper body trauma” at a bus stop in the 7400 block of Richmond Highway.

A Mantua man was shot and killed today (Monday) by Fairfax County police officers after he allegedly stabbed three family members, including his daughter and wife.

Both the man’s daughter and wife have died as a result of the injuries they sustained in the attack, which occurred shortly after 5 a.m. in the 3900 block of Persimmon Circle, the Fairfax County Police Department said.

Fairfax County intends to move forward with phasing out the use of police officers as school crossing guards.

The Fairfax County Police Department would eliminate crossing guards at local public high schools and turn to contractors to fill vacancies at elementary and middle schools under the fiscal year 2027 budget proposed on Tuesday (Feb. 17) by County Executive Bryan Hill.
