    Expect sunny skies with a high near 51 and northwest winds ranging from 6 to 14 mph, gusting up to 25 mph. Wednesday night, there’s a 30% chance of rain and snow from 1am to 4am, followed by a chance of rain, with a low of around 35 and calm winds turning south around 6 mph. On Christmas Day, there’s a 20% chance of rain before 1pm, mostly cloudy skies, a high near 53, and south winds from 6 to 8 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. See more from Weather.gov.

    Sports, trading card shop opening in Herndon early next year

    A store selling increasingly-popular cardboard collectibles plans to open in Herndon early next year.

    Scheduled for a grand opening on Saturday, Jan. 3, Goatz Sports Cards replaced a former chiropractor’s office in the strip of businesses at 208 Elden Street.

    Indoor golf club and cafe swings for spring opening in Merrifield

    A business hoping to offer the feel of a traditional golf course inside a Merrifield storefront is hoping to open next year.

    NextVision Golf Club, which will offer indoor golf simulators, coaching, a cafe and more, anticipates a “late spring 2026 opening,” owner Sean Oh told FFXnow.

    Meadows Frozen Custard opens in Reston ahead of winter holidays

    The Meadows Original Frozen Custard has at last completed its move from Ashburn to Reston.

    After some delays, the frozen desserts shop began serving customers in the South Lakes Village Shopping Center (11130-I South Lakes Drive) on Wednesday (Dec. 17) and will celebrate its grand opening tomorrow (Saturday).

    Fairfax Symphony Orchestra teams up with Patti LuPone, dragons for new concerts

    The Fairfax Symphony Orchestra (FSO) is expanding its season with a pair of newly announced concerts.

    In separate events next spring, the orchestra will host musical theater legend Patti LuPone and perform alongside the animated film “How to Train Your Dragon,” adding more star power to a season that has already featured cellist Yo-Yo Ma as a soloist.

    Expect rain and possibly a thunderstorm before 1pm followed by a slight chance of rain between 1pm and 2pm. Clouds will gradually clear, with temperatures decreasing to around 38 by 5pm. Breezy conditions with south winds at 16 to 23 mph, shifting west in the afternoon and gusts up to 47 mph. There’s a 70% chance of precipitation, with new amounts ranging from a quarter to half an inch. Friday night will be mostly clear and breezy, with lows around 26 and west winds at 18 to 23 mph, decreasing to 6 to 11 mph after midnight, and gusts still up to 47 mph. See more from Weather.gov.

    Mediterranean fusion restaurant setting up shop near Dunn Loring Metro

    A restaurant fusing cuisines from the Mediterranean and South Asia is planning to open soon in a vacant storefront near the Dunn Loring Metro station.

    Signage for Mandi Mediterranean has appeared in Merrifield at 2670A Avenir Place — the former home of Burger7, which closed in 2024.
