Expect showers and thunderstorms, some with heavy rainfall, throughout the day and evening with an 80% chance of precipitation and high near 91. Southwest winds will reach 7-9 mph, gusting up to 21 mph. Rainfall amounts between a quarter and half an inch are possible. Tonight, the chance of precipitation drops to 60%, with showers and thunderstorms likely before 2 am, followed by a chance of showers. With summer in full swing, Public Art Reston has a new activity for families looking to take in both the outdoors and some culture.

The nonprofit launched its first Public Art Scavenger Hunt last week, offering prizes to anyone who visits and shares photos with the many artworks installed throughout the community.

For Friday night, showers and thunderstorms are more likely before 8pm, and temperatures will dip to a low of around 71 with east winds at 3 to 7 mph.     Potbelly has put the finishing touches on makeovers for its restaurants in Fairfax Corner and Reston.

    The national sandwich chain will officially unveil the new looks tomorrow (Friday) with celebrations at both locations, offering a variety of giveaways to customers.


    A new mural is taking shape in the heart of Fairfax City.

    Richmond-based illustrator Bailey Sullivan is currently working on “Fox in the Flowers” and expected to finish painting tomorrow (Friday). The completed mural will be officially unveiled at a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 2 p.m. on July 10.

    A new breakfast and brunch option is now available at the Mosaic District in Merrifield.

    Maman, a New York-based cafe chain, opened its first Virginia location in the former Oath Pizza space on June 11, and the response so far has been as warm as the recent weather, according to company co-founder Elisa Marshall.
