Expect a rainy day with a high of 55°F and southwest winds of 10-13 mph, gusting up to 29 mph. Precipitation is certain, with amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch. Tonight, rain may continue until 1am, followed by clouds clearing to partly cloudy skies and a low of 41°F. Spot for soft-serve ice cream and ‘dirty sodas’ opens in Chantilly

A new outpost for dessert fare in Chantilly will offer numerous deals next month to celebrate its soft opening.

SoftSpot announced yesterday (Wednesday) that it’s now open in Chantilly’s Sully Place Shopping Center, boasting a menu with soft-serve ice cream, cookies and other treats.

Clouds will increase throughout the day, reaching a high temperature of around 48 degrees. A light and variable wind will pick up in the morning, becoming southwest at 5 to 7 mph. Thursday night will bring rain, primarily after 1 am, with a low of around 39 degrees. South winds will increase to 6 to 10 mph and there’s an 80% chance of precipitation. Break From Reality, a new set of escape rooms, opens in Fairfax City

What started as a way to stay busy during the coronavirus pandemic has become much more for Krissi Reeber.

A physician associate by day, Krissi Reeber spends her nights as the “gamemaker” for Break From Reality, a family-run hub of escape rooms that celebrated its grand opening in Fairfax City on Jan. 18.

Athletic training studio to open new location at Reston Station

A company that provides athletic and strength training is planning to open a studio at Reston Station once the weather heats up.

Healthy Baller, which already has a location on Inova Health Systems’ campus in Merrifield, has signed a lease for 4,700 square feet of retail space in the office building at 11400 Commerce Park Drive, property owner Comstock Companies announced late last week.

Photos: Marufuji Japanese Market draws crowd for grand opening in Tysons

After months of anticipation, Northern Virginia residents got their first look at the new Japanese grocery store in Tysons this past weekend.

Shoppers began lining up well before Marufuji Japanese Market (8520-A Leesburg Pike) opened its doors at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25, so anyone who showed up on time found themselves at the end of a queue that past the nearby Starbucks and looped multiple times around Tysons 3 Center’s rear parking lot.

    Local polar dips and plunges encourage cold water jumps for charity

    After a week of freezing temperatures, jumping into a body of cold water might not sound like the most enticing Saturday activity, but that’s exactly what dozens of Fairfax County residents are expected to do at two upcoming charitable events.

    First, Special Olympics Virginia will bring its annual Polar Plunge to the Mosaic District in Merrifield tomorrow (Saturday) from noon to 2 p.m.
