A man released from the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center yesterday (Tuesday) got arrested just hours later for allegedly stealing a vehicle and attempting to burglarize a home in Burke, police say.

According to the Fairfax County Police Department, its officers responded to the 9500 block of Millgate Place for a reported burglary at 7:02 p.m. on May 27.

Police have arrested three people believed to have stolen more than $50,000 in merchandise alone from Fairfax County beauty stores as part of a four-month crime spree.

Two teenagers accused of ramming a vehicle through the doors of a Newington gun store before fleeing with nearly two dozen stolen firearms have been arrested.

A 20-year-old man from Maryland was arrested earlier this week for allegedly stealing from a gaming supply store in Fairfax City while dressed as Spider-Man.

Two men who pleaded guilty to stealing more than 50 firearms from a Newington gun store will each spend most of the next decade in prison.

Cedric Minger, 22, of Maryland was sentenced yesterday (Wednesday) to serve nine years and six months behind bars by the U.S. District Court for Virginia’s Eastern District. Victor Jones, 22, of Washington, was sentenced to nine years earlier this month in the same court.

A Reston man was arrested late last week for allegedly breaking into and stealing from several businesses around Fairfax City.

According to the City of Fairfax Police Department, officers were first called to Halalway International Supermarket at 4072 Jermantown Road around 8:45 a.m. on Aug. 8. Overnight, an “unknown” man had forced his way into the business and stolen money, investigators found.

The 58-year-old man was arrested following a burglary that was reported in the 7900 block of Tire Swing Road in the Shreve Hill neighborhood around 10:25 a.m. on May 24, the Fairfax County Police Department said in a news release.

Police have arrested four people in connection with multiple home burglaries involving pretend flower deliveries in Fairfax County.

The Fairfax County Police Department announced on Jan. 10 that it was investigating five recent home burglaries linked by a woman who was seen on surveillance cameras pretending to deliver flowers. After determining that no one was inside, she alerted two men in a waiting vehicle who broke into the houses and stole cash, purses and other valuable items, police said.
