Calling the last 48 hours “a dangerous time on our roadways,” Fairfax County police are asking both pedestrians and drivers to pay attention and follow the rules of the road.

The Fairfax County Police Department held a press conference this afternoon (Friday) at the intersection of Richmond Highway and Frye Road in Woodlawn in the wake of five fatal crashes that have occurred over the last two days. Four of them killed pedestrians, while a fifth ended in the death of a motorcyclist.

A woman who was shot by the CIA Police after crashing outside the front gates of the intelligence agency’s headquarters in Langley in May 2025 has pleaded guilty to multiple federal charges.

Monia Spadaro, a 28-year-old identified in court documents as an Arlington resident, pleaded guilty yesterday (Monday) to disregarding a law enforcement signal for her to stop and driving while under the influence of alcohol, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia announced today.

Fairfax County saw no year-over-year change, but across the D.C. region overall, deaths connected to impaired driving were down 26% from 2023 to 2024, according to new data.

The recently released annual “How Safe Are Our Roads? Report” by the Washington Regional Alcohol Program (WRAP) and Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments recorded 74 fatalities connected to alcohol- and/or drug-related vehicle incidents last year — 100 fewer deaths than in the previous year and below the five-year average of 90.

Police are investigating the death of a man who experienced health issues after getting arrested for a crash in Fairfax City over the weekend.

Officers responded around 8:05 p.m. on Sunday (Dec. 14) for a single-vehicle crash at the Shell gas station at 11201 Fairfax Blvd. The 66-year-old driver was believed to have been under the influence of alcohol based on a preliminary investigation, the City of Fairfax Police Department says.

Fairfax County police are pursuing a manslaughter charge against the driver who allegedly crashed into an ambulance in Herndon last month, killing a passenger in his car.

Jose Lopez Martinez, a 23-year-old resident of Nokesville, was arrested on Tuesday (Dec. 2) after detectives brought the new charge, which comes on top of an initial charge of driving while intoxicated for the Nov. 25 crash.

One person is dead and three other people are injured after an apparently alcohol-fueled crash on Worldgate Drive in Herndon that involved an ambulance.

A worker on the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department’s ambulance 436 reported around 4:02 p.m. Tuesday (Nov. 25) that they were “involved” in a collision at the intersection of Worldgate Drive and Alton Square outside WorldGate Plaza, according to scanner traffic.

The woman who crashed into the main gate at the CIA’s McLean headquarters while driving drunk earlier this year has been found guilty of three charges.

A federal jury on Thursday (Oct. 2) convicted 27-year-old Monia Spadaro of driving under the influence, reckless driving and eluding police in connection with the May 22 incident, according to online court records.

Two men accused of striking and killing pedestrians while driving under the influence pleaded guilty to DUI manslaughter last month.

Carlos Nunez Morales and Michael Rambudhan, both residents of Woodbridge, are set to be sentenced in August for their roles in the pair of 2024 crashes. According to statute, each man faces a maximum of 10 years in prison for the manslaughter charge alone.

A 23-year-old who admitted to driving while under the influence when he struck and killed another motorist in Centreville will spend the next year in jail.

Gabriel Rincon of Fairfax was sentenced Friday (March 14) to a total of 11 years for the December 2023 crash that killed Sohail Iqbal, a 30-year-old Manassas man, on Route 29 near Stringfellow Road.
