Under Armour is gearing up for a relaunch at Tysons Corner Center, which also recently bid farewell to a couple of prominent retail tenants.

Operating out of a temporary location near Bloomingdale’s since late 2024, Under Armour will unveil a new concept at the mall on Thursday (March 26) that’s intended to draw in a younger generation of athletes.

New buildings are still going up in Tysons, as anyone who has passed the Indigo at McLean Station, Exchange at Spring Hill and Flats at Tysons construction sites can attest.

But 16 years into Fairfax County’s plan to remake Tysons into a downtown community by 2050, developers behind some of the area’s more established neighborhoods have started to focus less on expanding their properties than on bolstering what they’ve already built.

Power has returned to Tysons Corner Center after an outage left the entire mall in the dark earlier this afternoon (Sunday).

It’s unclear exactly when the mall lost electricity, but Dominion Energy learned about the outage around 2:30 p.m., Aisha Khan, a Northern Virginia spokesperson for the utility, says.

Update — Hershey Super Sweet Adventure announced in late February that its opening at Tysons Corner Center will be postponed “due to unexpected permitting delays.”

“We appreciate our guests’ understanding and apologize for any inconvenience. We are contacting ticket holders and will share our new opening date in the coming days,” the company said in a statement. “We look forward to welcoming families soon.”

Less than two weeks after temporarily closing, American Girl is ready to show off its makeover at Tysons Corner Center.

Workers have been busy today cleaning and putting the finishing touches on the popular doll maker’s new store in the mall ahead of its grand opening at 10 a.m. tomorrow (Saturday).

Though 2026 is only a week old, Tysons Corner Center has already welcomed one new business, while bidding temporary adieu to an old one.

Bora Bora Smoothie Cafe made its D.C.-area debut with a soft opening last Saturday (Jan. 3), more than a year after signs announcing that it would be “opening soon” first appeared.
