Expect showers and thunderstorms primarily before 3 p.m., with a high near 76°F and south winds of around 16 mph, gusting up to 31 mph. There’s an 80% chance of rain, with rainfall between a quarter and half an inch possible. Wednesday night will likely have showers, possibly including a thunderstorm after 11 p.m., with a low around 54°F. Winds will shift from west at 9 mph to north after midnight, and there’s an 80% chance of rain with new precipitation between a tenth and quarter of an inch, possibly higher in thunderstorms. Herndon’s new festival on Lynn Street promises ‘cool vibes’ and ‘hot beats’

Herndon is going all-in on a “hot and cool” theme with its newest festival, where upbeat and mellow musical performances will be complemented by activities such as a snowball fight and jalapeno-eating contest.

“Polar Heat on Lynn Street,” a free, day-long event on Saturday, May 16 sponsored by the town’s Parks and Recreation Department, will feature nonstop music on two different stages, food trucks, inflatables, a smores station and themed community vendor booths.

Davio’s steakhouse takes over former Matchbox bar at Reston Station

An existing restaurant at Reston Station will soon bring new life to the outdoor patio vacated at the end of 2025 by Matchbox.

Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse is expanding to the patio, where it will open a “Plaza Bar” with seasonal menu offerings, cocktails and more this Friday (May 7).

Maggiano’s to open this summer after Taste of Tysons preview

Local diners missing Maggiano’s Little Italy will want to circle their calendar for this year’s Taste of Tysons.

The foodie festival is returning to Tysons Corner Center for a fourth year on May 16 from noon to 3 p.m. with a preview of the forthcoming Italian restaurant among its highlights.

Fairfax City’s Mamma Lucia closes for good after 39 years

Mamma Lucia served its final pizza last night (Sunday) after nearly four decades in Fairfax City.

The humble but beloved institution announced on Friday (May 1) that it would permanently close on Sunday, May 3, a difficult decision necessitated by health challenges facing its owner, Rosa.

    Mediterranean restaurant rolls out new brunch with manoushe at Mosaic District

    A new weekend brunch is coming to NAJA Mediterranean at the Mosaic District in Merrifield, inspired by traditional breakfasts across the Middle East and Mediterranean.

    Restaurateur Tariq Alaeddin’s eatery, described as a “love letter from Beirut to America,” is hosting its first weekend brunch tomorrow (Saturday) at 2911 District Avenue.

    Japanese lifestyle store Ebisu opens today in Seven Corners

    The Seven Corners store that once housed a Jo-Ann Fabrics and Crafts is getting a makeover as a new Japanese lifestyle store filled with Hello Kitty and Pokémon plushes and figurines, imported snacks and drinks, beauty products, and household goods.

    Ebisu will host its grand opening at 6320 Seven Corners Center at 11 a.m. today (Friday). The ribbon-cutting also marks the start of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month and will feature a traditional lion dance performance.

    Vienna Farmers Market returns tomorrow with native plant sale

    With the calendar turning to May, farmers’ market season is blooming across Fairfax County.

    The Vienna Farmers Market, organized by the nonprofit Optimist Club of Greater Vienna, will open for 2026 tomorrow (Saturday) in the Vienna Community Center parking lot at 120 Cherry Street SE.
