A pedestrian was killed this morning (Monday) in a crash on Route 28 in Chantilly that involved a commercial tanker truck.

Police officers, firefighters and medics were dispatched to northbound Route 28 (Sully Road) under Poplar Tree Road around 6:33 a.m. for a crash involving a pedestrian who was reportedly struck by a “large tanker-type vehicle that carries gas,” according to scanner traffic.

An Alexandria man has been charged with a felony hit-and-run for a crash in Springfield that killed a pedestrian.

Caleb Allison, 26, allegedly left the scene after striking Julio Cesar Pasassi, a 43-year-old Springfield resident, with his vehicle while driving east on Franconia Road near Elder Avenue around 6 a.m. on Sept. 13, the Fairfax County Police Department said in a press release on Friday (Dec. 20).

A Reston man is facing criminal charges for his involvement in a recent fatal crash on Fairfax County Parkway.

The Fairfax County Police Department says Ayaan Usmani, 23, was drunk and speeding when he lost control of the 2019 BMW M850I he was driving near Elden Street around 2:40 a.m. on Nov. 23.

A driver was killed in a multi-vehicle crash on I-95 near Lorton that brought the northbound lanes to a standstill this afternoon (Monday).

According to the Virginia State Police, two drivers were traveling “at a high rate of speed” around 1 p.m. when one of them — the driver of a 2013 BMW 650I convertible — changed lanes and hit a third vehicle, a 2020 Mercedes E-Class near the 163-mile marker south of Lorton Road.

Fairfax County police believe a man killed in a car crash on Georgetown Pike this weekend may have been speeding.

Officers were called to the 8600 block of Georgetown Pike in Great Falls at 6:54 a.m. on Saturday (Dec. 14) after Ederson Lima Gislon, 40, of Maryland veered off the roadway in a 2024 BMW M8 and hit a tree, the Fairfax County Police Department said yesterday.

A teenager is facing manslaughter and reckless driving charges in connection to a fatal crash that occurred outside Oakton Shopping Center last month.

According to police, the 17-year-old was driving a Toyota Camry north on Hunter Mill Road “at a high rate of speed” when he hit a 2001 Acura sedan turning left into the shopping center at Lynnhaven Place around 11:20 a.m. on Nov. 9.

The number of pedestrians and cyclists killed in traffic crashes in Fairfax County have doubled this year, one study says.

A total of 19 pedestrians have died this year through November — a substantial increase from the 10 tallied in 2023, according to data compiled by the advocacy group Northern Virginia Families for Safe Streets (NOVA FSS). In addition, a bicyclist was killed on West Ox Road in October, the county’s first cyclist fatality since 2021.

A teen died after they were hit by a driver while crossing Old Keene Mill Road in Burke on Wednesday (Dec. 4).

While crossing at the Sydenstricker Road intersection near Pohick Regional Library, the 14-year-old pedestrian apparently walked into the westbound lanes on Old Keene Mill Road and was struck by the driver of a Ford Fusion, the Fairfax County Police Department said yesterday (Thursday), citing a preliminary investigation by detectives.

The family of a Springfield man who was recently killed in a plane crash will also bury the ashes of one of the dogs he was transporting.

The family of Seuk Kim, 49, went to Leesburg on Sunday (Dec. 1) to pick up the ashes of a puppy named Lisa, who died alongside Kim when his 1986 Mooney M20J crashed in the Catskill Mountains about 35 miles southwest of Albany, New York, on Nov. 24.

WINDHAM, N.Y. (AP) — A pilot and a rescue dog he was transporting to an animal shelter were killed when a small plane crashed in the snowy woods of the Catskill Mountains, though two other dogs were later found to have survived, authorities said.

Seuk Kim, 49, was flying from Maryland to Albany, New York, when the plane crashed Sunday evening in a remote area of Windham, about 35 miles (56 kilometers) southwest of Albany, officials said.
