The Flint Hill Huskies have come up mostly winners of late, whenever and wherever they have played in boys basketball action.

Most recently, the experienced high-school team won on the road in D.C., defeating the host Maret Frogs, 61-49, to improve to 7-4 overall and 3-0 in Mid-Atlantic Athletic Conference action.

At least eight former Flint Hill Huskies boys high-school varsity basketball players are continuing to play the sport at different levels in college.

One of the most notable is 6-foot-11 graduate student Noel Brown at Division I St. Bonaventure University.

With an out-of-town holiday tournament next on the schedule, the Flint Hill Huskies warmed up by winning a key local boys basketball game.

In that Dec. 19 high-school contest, visiting Flint Hill (4-3, 2-0) defeated its top neighborhood and Mid-Atlantic Athletic Conference rival Potomac School Panthers, 81-64.

Sports

On the strength of a strong fall season with only one loss in singles competition, Flint Hill School junior girls tennis player Margaux DeVaul was chosen as the Division I private-school state Player of the Year.

Her play helped the Flint Hill team win six matches during the high-school campaign and earn a berth in the Independent School League postseason tournament.

Slighted — very much unintentionally — during pregame introductions, Bella Kim certainly wasn’t forgotten once a recent all-star field-hockey match began.

By scoring a goal, assisting on another and taking multiple shots, the senior for the Potomac School Panthers was selected as the Player of the Game for the Home team in the annual Independent School League girls all-star game.

Sports

This season the Division I private-school state football playoffs will not include the Flint Hill Huskies or Potomac School Panthers.

The overall records of the high-school teams were not good enough to earn one of the four berths. Potomac School finished 5-4 and Flint Hill 1-8.

Sports

Multiple postseason tournaments will occur this week involving girls and boys private high-school teams in two different conferences.

In girls Independent School League action, the Flint Hill Huskies, Madeira Snails and Potomac School Panthers will participate in soccer, tennis and volleyball tournaments. In the boys Mid-Atlantic Athletic Conference, Flint Hill and Potomac School teams will participate in the soccer tourney.
