A bakery is coming to a vacant space in Vienna’s Jades Shopping Center — but not the one initially planned.

Shilla Bakery & Cafe will be moving in at 340 Maple Avenue West, according to a banner that recently appeared above the storefront.

Overnight, temperatures will drop to around 74°F, precipitation chance increases to 90%, and wind gusts may reach 18 mph, with an additional 0.5 inches of rainfall possible. Annual Cardboard Boat Regatta to dock in Reston this Saturday

Dozens of cardboard boats will populate the waters of Lake Anne in Reston this Saturday (Aug. 10) for the 2024 Cardboard Boat Regatta.

The popular annual event, where community members race each other in life-sized cardboard boats that they built and decorated by hand, will return Lake Anne Plaza (1639 Washington Plaza North), starting at noon and ending at 3 p.m.

Local ice cream shop honors Olympic athletes with limited-time sundaes

With D.C.-area athletes riding high at this year’s Summer Games, Toby’s Homemade Ice Cream is serving up gold medal-themed scoops that probably taste sweeter than the real thing.

The Arlington and Vienna ice cream parlor unveiled a limited-time Gold Medal Sundae last Friday (Aug. 2) in honor of Arlingtonian swimmer Torri Huske, a Yorktown High School graduate who’s won five medals — three of them gold — at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

NEW: Bonchon to revive Herndon and Annandale restaurants

Bonchon Chicken is plotting a comeback in Herndon and Annandale.

The Korean fried chicken chain plans to reopen its Herndon location under different owners, and it has secured a new space in Annandale within the same shopping center where the business saw its previous restaurant destroyed by a fire.

Maryland taco eatery eyes Penn Daw for first Virginia expansion

Maryland-based Mexican chain Big Papi’s Tacos is set to make its Virginia debut in Fairfax County, possibly by the end of the year.

The restaurant, known for its diverse menu featuring carne asada tacos and quesabirria pizza, currently operates two locations in Frederick and Hagerstown, Maryland.

Chicago favorite boba tea cafe to open Merrifield location

A boba tea chain that has won over the Windy City now hopes to capture hearts in the D.C. area.

Chicago’s Te’Amo Boba Bar is venturing to the East Coast for the first time with a cafe at the Mosaic District in Merrifield, where it’ll open at 8190 Strawberry Lane, Suite 5, next to Pastry Xpo on the ground floor of the Vantage Apartments.
