At its core, “Frankenstein” is not a pretty story, and new artwork on display in Fort Hunt doesn’t shy away from highlighting the darker, uglier side of the groundbreaking novel.

A new exhibit at the Nepenthe Gallery and Frame Shop at 7918 Fort Hunt Road shows off the artwork in a new, illustrated edition of “Frankenstein” from publisher Bond & Grace.

Three months after Chicken Salad Chick opened its first Northern Virginia location, another will open its doors.

Chantilly is the chain’s next home, with Chicken Salad Chick opening its doors in Greenbriar Town Center next week (Wednesday), the company announced.

A new dog care business from a local couple has staked out territory in the developing expansion of Reston Town Center.

With construction expected to finish later this month, Molly’s Dog Care will officially open its doors at 11992 Inspiration Street on Dec. 8. The nearly 4,000-square-foot center will offer day care, boarding and grooming services to pups of all sizes and personalities, according to its website.


A new option for boba tea is set to open its doors this weekend in Fairfax City.

The Alley will hold its grand opening on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 11017 Main Street, filling a 1,700-square-foot storefront in Fairfax Junction — formerly known as the Westfair Shopping Center — near the Fairfax Blvd intersection.

Brick by brick, West Falls Church will soon be home to one of the area’s few Lego superstores.

Bricks & Minifigs is set to open later this month in the Shops at West Falls Church, located at 7395 Route 29, as a one-stop-shop for Lego products — both new and old. The national Lego-reselling chain also opened a franchise in Herndon this past June.


A chef who previously worked for the prestigious Japanese restaurant chain Nobu is now serving up sushi and wagyu steak in Tysons.

Modan opened to customers last Friday (Nov. 8) at 1788 Chain Bridge Road on the second floor of the Heming apartments in Scotts Run. Currently in soft-opening mode, the restaurant is offering dinner service from 5-10 p.m. for up to 60 guests.
