Expect showers and thunderstorms throughout the day, with possible intensification after 2pm, and temperatures peaking around 83°F. Winds will blow from the southeast at 6 to 9 mph, and there’s an 80% chance of precipitation with rainfall ranging from a tenth to a quarter of an inch, potentially more during thunderstorms. Wednesday night continues with storms and showers, decreasing after 5am, a low of around 70°F, and southerly winds at 8 mph. Sola Salons is gearing up to open at Plaza America in Reston later this summer, keeping it on track with the previously reported timeline for its newest location.

“The Reston location will open closer to the end of summer and is corporately owned,” Sola Salons Marketing Director Liz Eggert told FFXnow via email. “The location will also have 63 chairs/salons within the location.”


A new Japanese restaurant has opened its doors in the Town of Vienna, complete with an all-you-can-eat sushi bar.

Sushi Oishii is currently in its soft opening phase after starting to serve customers at 234 Maple Avenue East in the evening of May 17. It took over from Akai Tori Ramen & Yakitori, which shuttered in February less than a year after opening.

One of the D.C. area’s favorite pizza spots is now officially open in Fairfax City.

Located at 10408 Fairfax Blvd in the 50 Point Shopping Center, the New York-style pizza chain Andy’s celebrated the grand opening of its newest Northern Virginia store last Friday (May 31), marking another step in its regional expansion.


The Town of Herndon will hold its first-ever Pride event this Saturday (June 8). The family-friendly festival is free and will feature music, crafts, food, drag performers and more.

The event, called HerndonPRIDE, will be hosted by Arts Herndon, an organization focused on artistic and educational opportunities for artists and performers.


A diner that serves all-day breakfast has made its way from the Big Apple to Vienna, giving the town a potential successor to the night-owl-friendly Amphora Restaurant.

Carnegie Diner & Cafe will celebrate its grand opening at 501 Maple Avenue West this Wednesday (June 5) — less than a month after buying the property from the Pagonis family, who had opened Yellow Diner there in early April.

Greenheart Juice Shop plans to open its newest location in Reston this summer.

Greenheart’s area manager, Cheryl Strzemienski, confirmed that the juice and smoothie shop plans to open its sixth location in the North Point Village Center as early as August.


Thursday nights will be filled with swinging and swaying at Lake Anne Plaza in Reston next month.

The village center will host free dance nights on the waterfront at 1609 Washington Plaza from 6-9 p.m. every Thursday, starting June 6 through June 27, the Lake Anne and Washington Plaza Merchant Association (LAWPA) announced today (Thursday).
