Expect rain, predominantly after 4pm, with increasing clouds and a high near 56. The south wind will be 6 to 10 mph, gusting up to 21 mph, and a 50% chance of precipitation. Friday night, rain is more likely after 1am, with cloudy conditions and a low around 48. South wind will change to northwest after midnight at 5 to 10 mph, with gusts up to 18 mph. When the Washington Capitals take on the Chicago Blackhawks tomorrow (Friday), local fans will be able to take in the action while hitting the ice themselves at Reston Town Center.

For the first time, D.C.’s NHL team is bringing a “Rock the Rink” skate and watch party to the town center’s ice skating pavilion (1818 Discovery Street), inviting community members to enjoy a variety of activities before cheering on the boys in red.


It doesn’t appear to be long before a local favorite will begin serving diners in Fairfax Corner.

Ruthie’s All-Day, a restaurant brand offering Southern comfort food, is targeting March to open its newest location — its first in Fairfax County, a representative of the restaurant told FFXnow, adding that more information will be shared once the grand opening draws closer.


A Compass Coffee location in West Falls Church is one of 10 coffeehouses that could close after the D.C.-based chain filed for bankruptcy this week, according to court documents.

The store located in the Shops at West Falls Church (7393 Route 29) is one of two Virginia cafes that “are unprofitable and provide no benefit,” the coffee chain — seeking to reject the cafe’s lease — alleged in federal court.


Though 2026 is only a week old, Tysons Corner Center has already welcomed one new business, while bidding temporary adieu to an old one.

Bora Bora Smoothie Cafe made its D.C.-area debut with a soft opening last Saturday (Jan. 3), more than a year after signs announcing that it would be “opening soon” first appeared.

With its first exhibit of the new year, Reston Art Gallery and Studios is turning its attention to a subject close to home: Lake Anne Plaza.

The gallery at 11400 Washington Plaza West, Suite B, will unveil the new exhibition “Art of Lake Anne” tomorrow (Thursday), showcasing interpretations of Reston’s original village center from nine different local artists.


A new eatery at Tysons Galleria is catering to diners who crave staples of Thai cuisine but don’t have the time to eat a full, sit-down meal.

Bird’s Eye Thai, a relatively new concept from the team behind Reston’s Tiki Thai, opened just over a month ago on Dec. 6 in the mall’s third-floor food court, taking the place of the recently relocated Empanadas de Mendoza.

The latest Fairfax-area location for a chain of fast-casual seafood restaurants is expected to open next week.

California Fish Grill will open the doors of a nearly 3,000-square-foot eatery in Franconia (7003A Manchester Blvd) on Monday, Jan. 12, the restaurant announced.
