All-you-can-eat sushi restaurant works toward opening near Dulles Airport

A local sushi restaurant chain is in the process of expanding to Herndon.

Signage for Sushi Oishii, which already boasts locations in Vienna and Maryland, has appeared on a storefront located mere miles away from Dulles International Airport.

The day will be partly sunny with a high of 78°F and calm wind shifting to southeast at 5 mph in the afternoon. Precipitation chance is 60%, with rainfall under a tenth of an inch, although higher in thunderstorms. For Thursday night, showers and possible thunderstorms prevail mainly before 2am, with continued chances thereafter. The low will be around 57°F, and light wind turns northeast at 6 mph after midnight. Precipitation chance rises to 80%, with rainfall amounts between half and three-quarters of an inch possible. Tysons’ Kabob House has closed, will be replaced by similar restaurant

The more things change in Tysons, the more they stay the same, it appears.

Food Corner Kabob House, located at 8315-B Leesburg Pike, closed last month after more than a dozen years in the Tysons Square shopping center. Signage has since appeared signaling a new tenant that will also be a kebab shop.

Wineries pour into Tysons for Virginia Wine Festival later this month

Wonder, a New York-based concept that serves food from restaurants across the country for dining in, takeout and delivery, is planning to open several locations across the D.C. area this year, including ones in Reston and Franconia.

Paisano’s Pizza is moving its original location, but staying in Fair Lakes

A longtime tenant of the Shops at Fair Lakes plans to relocate this summer, though it won’t be going very far.

Paisano’s Pizza, which opened its very first location in the shopping center nearly 30 years ago, will be moving less than a mile away in the coming months, a representative for the shopping center told FFXnow.

McLean Day festival returns this month to salute 110th birthday

The McLean Community Center’s annual McLean Day festival is returning later this month with food trucks, carnival rides, a petting zoo and more to celebrate the event’s 110th birthday.

The festival is scheduled for Saturday, May 17, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. at Lewinsville Park (1659 Chain Bridge Road).

Reston art gallery pieces together collaborative collage exhibit

Visitors to Reston Art Gallery and Studios can now watch the artistic process play out in real time as part of a newly unveiled exhibit.

A collaborative effort involving nearly a dozen different artists, the exhibit “TEXTURE: Paper & Paint / Quilts & Collage / Metal & More” opened at the gallery in Lake Anne Plaza (11400 Washington Plaza West) this past Saturday (May 3).
